I posted a while ago about moving to Scotland in another OP post but can’t find it!

A couple of funsters kindly offered help with any information in areas and the different buying system and I just wanted anyone who kindly offered assistance that we have sold and are awaiting acceptance of an offer for a property in Dumfries and Galloway

Anyone less live near Stranraer?

There are funsters here who do ?.
How exciting, we live an hour and a bit north near Ayr. Stranraer area is lovely ... lots of great day trips and overnighters.

Go through Stranraer three \ four times a year on our way to New England Bay.
Both the Morrisons and Lidl supermarkets are good for motorhome parking when provisioning up.(y)
A number of Funsters favour NFU for their motorhome insurance and think there's a branch in Stranraer.
Fingers crossed house purchase goes smoothly.(y)

Ayr is lovely too - looking forward to exploring all the small local beaches

We lived in D&G for a couple of years, it’s a fabulous place.

Thank you - everything is just verbal now - will feel a lot happier once offer accepted in writing.

We live about an hour from Stranraer & have had many a good night out there.

Things run to a slower beat in the area & it takes a bit of getting used to.
Wild camping area's are plentiful, you'll be spoilt for choice, the whole of the Galloway forest park will be your playground, even disappearing out for the day in the motorhome can be lovely, find a picnic spot, have a stroll, have dinner & just watch the wildlife go by, its so relaxing.

Hope all goes well with the house purchase.

Thank you. I agree on the slower beat - while booking a house viewing, I asked for 10.00 after the rush hour (in my defence I travel the M6 for work between junctions 18 and 26). The agent didn’t stop laughing for 5 minutes and mentioned she got held up in a 10 car traffic jam once:giggle:

Hi and welcome to paradise... don't know where you moving from but I assume when you say "buying advice" you mean property and if so I can't advise cause I have always lived here so never had to move... However if it's beer then it is pretty much the same as in Englandshire... Walk in pub and say...hi pal can I have a pint o heavy please..oh and a white wine for the missus. simples

Hi Rosemary, we live in Dumfries so if you have anything you need help with just ask. If memory serves me correctly we met at my meet in PortPatrick

Nah!, Just my Eldest son who married a Scots Lassie, and who came with about 4 Brothers 2 sisters and God knows how many cousins!. Mind My Gt Granny on my dads side was from Aberdeen (ish) she used to "follow the herring" and met and married a Scarborough Fisherman. (Gt Grandad).

Lorger is correct, I do live in Stranraer, have done for nearly 45 years. It's not great place but it's not a bad place. Very quiet, hardly any crime, I don't know anyone who ever had a car stolen or their house robbed. We raised two children here. If you need any info just PM me. The only downside is that it is two hours from anywhere, the M6, Glasgow, Belfast.

I live 30miles east of Ayr , We occasionally go to Ayr for the night , just park on the sea front & have a night out in the pubs , good night out ? , & forgot to say welcome to our country we are happy to have you ?
