I'm a newbie
Our Motorhome was stolen in Stoke Orchard, Gloucestershire at about 11pm last night. Was in a storage complex. Started without using keys. There was another MH stolen from same yard. It's tracker was found by police near Reading at a petrol station.
Our MH was a Burstner Nexxo T665. Registration number FY16 FGD. Only had it for 9 months. Please share. Was due to go away today - Friday.

In the past I too had my Burstner stolen with little hope of recovery because adding a bit of black tape can change the number plate. We were told that it would go to Ireland or Cyprus where right hand drive is standard. In the UK if it has been logged as stolen, it cannot be M.O.T tested.
My heart goes out to you. The trauma of losing all your special things and trying to list and record everything in the van can take hours. Household insurance may cover most things from clothing to knives and forks. The actual van insurance should cover any previously itemised additions like Gaslow etc. Our insurance paid up in full after exactly 4 weeks. I do know how special your van is and what it represents to you but after a few weeks it can be replaced. You can scour the country with a cheque in your hand and find a replacement that may just upgrade any shortcomings that you had. Good luck in your search and try to find something positive to come out of this horrid time. Alan

Sorry to hear that.

So they nicked it with the tracker on and then discarded the tracker at a petrol station?

Sorry to hear your news.
Like others have said, try blanket coverage on social media as it has been shown to work in the past.
I don’t think I’d want mine back if it was stolen though.

interesting comment that the tracker was found in a garage , can they be easily found? Or worse scanned for?

I guess better fitted will be less easily found
No
The op said that the other van stolen had a tracker

Really sorry to hear that.
How did they overcome any security that you’d expect the storage provider to have e.g. fences, locked gates etc. Any CCTV available?

We really feel for you, especially as you were due to be way in it tonight. I believe you said it had a tracker fitted, was this not connected to an alarm of some sort. Anyway hope the police find it or your insurance settles you with you pronto

We had ours stolen off our drive sept 2018, were lucky to get it back with the tracker, similiar story as no keys were used. Feel for you mate as it plays with your head, they were probably professional at it as the number plates were swapped for diplomatic plates, so they knew what they were doing and had the right tools, just feel lucky they couldnt find the tracker, i think they got spooked as they were close to finding it.
i hope you manage to find it or get a replacement.

I understand that the on board diagnostic port is weak point and can be connected to some sort of gizmo to bypass the immobiliser. OBD port locks can be purchased. No expert, but just picked up in conversation.

You know it makes sense! I’m off to Taunton on 2nd April to have mine fitted ?
Good decision. Make sure that eddievanbitz isn’t still trying to fob you off with a free Victron calendar, though :whistle2:

Thanks very much. Nasty people out there these days. Think it could be an inside job. Knew exactly where the home was kept. 3 minutes to take it. Professionals at work
