Newbie!
I am so gutted to find out today that our new Motorhome that we ordered last October for April 22 delivery has been put back again from next month to end of November :( I had just allowed myself to believe it was finally happening and started planning our trip for September too.

Anyway I am not sure of my question really, I just wanted to cry and thought you would understand my pain and maybe see if any of you had any tips for where we could get one instead or insights in to how the market is now, as we had stopped looking as we thought we were sorted!

They said the positive news is we still have the price held under the price promise guarantee, but we are thinking maybe we should just cancel it and see how things are with the secondhand market now as it may have improved, or just get something smaller that we can use for long weekends and postpone our long hoped for European adventure while there is still all this unrest and souring fuel costs. We went MH rather than van to give me space for working while on the road.

Perhaps its a sign

I wonder if it's just RHD vans that are getting delayed and Fiat are looking after their main market.
Even in normal times delivery for RHD is always 3 to 4 months longer than LHD.
We are looking possibly ordering a new van but it will be LHD again.

It’s a sign alright, a sign that the supply chain and builders are as busy as ever and not that it’s a sign for you.

I’d keep the order with the price promise as you could then sell in at a profit or even sell the order too.

I hear that the second hand market is buoyant for sellers, but maybe not those looking for a bargain.

Sad to hear your plans are delayed further too.

When vehicle manufacturers have supply issues, they tend to reduce the number of variants they have. It means when a part that's on backorder comes in, they are more likely to be able to complete the build of a bunch of orders that are waiting in their backlog. Switching the side the steering wheel is on is a major undertaking, tons of parts are different. I wouldn't be surprised if they are running periods without RHD orders to keep their output higher.

Keep the faith. We went through a similar process to you when we ordered our HYMER in September 2020.

Originally we were given a non-guaranteed date of March-April 2021. This was then pushed back to May 2021 then to July 2021.

Our van eventually was delivered to our dealer in August 2021 and we collected it on 1st September 2021.

In between these times we considered other options both new & pre-loved but in the end we are both pleased we waited and bought exactly what we wanted.

Hymer for example in normal times only build one maybe two batches of RHD vans a year where as LHD are constantly coming off the line.

Which manufacturer/model?

If you have the price fixed I’d hang on, we were looking at 2nd hand prices at the dealers where we store our MH and they still look like crazy money 💰

Many of us in the same boat but with the market the way it is you will be paying top dollar for a second hand one. Your new one being price protected will be a bargain when it arrives. If you pull out you might be gutted to see the new price they would be selling it for! Definately hang in there would be my advice.

I think a good few of us are going to be disappointed further. Ordered a pre ordered van last October for this March and sold our Burstner. Now October but likely to be pushed back further. A lot of people have been put back to autumn and I'm seeing an increasing number being told later and into 2023.I think a lot of the promises given during the last 2 big trade shows to secure orders will prove hold as much water as Boris' promises. The big Uk converters do seem to be getting plenty of chassis though perhaps as they are buying RHD in bulk rather than much smaller quantities .The European manufacturers will still have their long summer shutdowns though!

I certainly would not be cancelling the order if you have a price guarantee. The way prices are rocketing up it represents a great discount on next Year's prices and lower depreciation for you

Hi Orion

Apologies I have just found the thread on it where there seems to be many people like us :( It seems we are in exact same boat as you. We are waiting on an Adria Matrix 670DL Supreme that was also supposed to be part of the stock allocation coming in to the dealer in April. It was still showing as arriving in August last month so I assumed we were in build phase and almost there. I need to go back to dealer and see if he can find out any more info for me

That's good to know thank you. I was just so upset this morning, but I think maybe we need to sit tight and take a bit of time to consider everything

I have made a suggestion to Jim about a table for actual deliveries versus projected dates at order time.

Replied to you on the other thread. Best to set up a regular monthly call to the dealer for updates from the Adria Portal - not enough to bother them but will keep you informed. Then once you are closer to the confirmed build/delivery dates you a can up the ante!

That would be really helpful, great idea thanks

My latest understanding is that our new arrival on Tuesday means we were very lucky to get it. It should have been here last September Ziggy123. I say lucky because some who have ordered around the same time as, us and expecting them now, are going to have to wait until next March to June. If that had of been us then we would have been waiting over 2 years!

I believe some dealers may be edging their customers to cancel orders and then sell at higher price when it arrives. Good for them and the manufacturer if that’s what happens but I did hear orders without a customer name against them will not get those vans delivered and once again dealer order numbers have been drastically cut again to try and catch up with the back orders, so that’s a bit of good news for those waiting.

Useful info. I wonder how a manfacturer knows a genuine buyer from a ghost one? Having said that there will be more genuine buyers on the books than they can satisfy anyway. Speaking to Highbridge recently buyers are turning up saying what have you got available and just buying it even though it was not their first choice.

I ordered my McLouis PVC based on Fiat Ducato, last October from a dealer in Perugia. Expected delivery was May this year, but since then I have been calling dealer on a regular basis and they tell me that with all their PVCs on order, they are no longer being given an estimated time for delivery, whilst the motorhomes on order from last year are now beginning to be delivered, albeit several months behind schedule.

I wouldn’t give up now. We’re at Highlands End as is one of my cousins. They ordered a Chausson last Oct for April delivery and are still waiting. It has allegedly been built but is still waiting on one interior fitting. Someone they’ve heard of is delayed by cushions of all things! So it’s not always electronics from China. They like their current van but it’s a 8.5m tag axle and are finding more and more sites don’t like them. Before anyway says anything, they like staying on sites end of !

This thread highlights the" have's" and ignores the "have not's"

Many people in the uk are buying less fuel, because they can't afford the present pump prices

There are people in Ukraine who have lost everything !

perhaps i should say it again.

There are people in Ukraine who have lost EVERYTHING !

There are people on this forum moaning because of supply chain problems regarding the purchase of a luxury item!

Is sensitive compassion on "Motorhomefun
dissapearing ?

just asking,

Leo

Quite the opposite I would say!

You can probably apply that sentiment to every thread on this and multiple other forums, so why not start your own one on the subject?

Wow that's crazy delays! Really pleased to hear yours is coming, having to wait so long though will mean we will thoroughly appreciate it when it comes!
