Not sure if this has been mentioned, but according to a note I received today from another hire company, a large Cambridge-based hire outfit went into administration on 23 December. I've known of them for some time - in fact had dealings with them in the past - and they didn't always receive the best press.

...the following national motorhome hire companies have gone into administration: Motorholme hire, Unbeatable hire, Hire Booking Centre and Motorhome Hire UK? These are all actually the same company and they have now closed for business. The companies also had numerous other names and brands that they used online.

As of the 23rd of December 2019, Motorholme, the parent company of Unbeatable hire and Hire Booking Centre went into administration.

Could be some good buys at an auction somewhere soon??

Doubt it - the MHs were probably financed in some way, or later mortgaged to the bank to secure additional credit lines.

They will probably go into the trade - financiers do not want to fiddle around disposing of assets they know nothing about.

Auction maybe but I guess the sharks are circling - before you.

A thoroughly disreputable company with a long history of fraud.
Unfortunately, given their previous history they will simply set up again under another name.

Have a look at TrustPilot for some of the history

We hired from them, the motorhome we got was privately owned and they were the 'letting agent'

Originally they sought investments of 35’k from individuals who then “owned the vehicle which they then hired out. You had used of the vehicle for a given period in the year , They also paid 6% interest to investors . All the units were pretty basic to reduce purchase cost

Is that also Motorhome Holiday Company near Bristol? Weren’t they the fall out from The Family Centre Adria Centre in Bristol ?

It survived that with a guy called Matt or am I mixed up?

No, it's not them that are in trouble. In fact the info about MotorHolme in administration, was in a blog of theirs.

And yes, you are right about their history - Matt used to be part of The Family Travel Centre in Bristol. A former Adria agent, and briefly Globecar too.

So did we before we bought our own. Absolute pond life. Never again. Felt a bit sorry for the owners that we were dealing with
That's how I knew of them. A decade ago, a friend bought a new 6-berth motorhome with the intention of letting it out. Trouble was he didn't have anywhere to store it nor the time to service it and do handovers etc - so we offered to look after that side of things. He used MotorHolme as the main letting agent, so we had quite a lot of contact with them. They were certainly sharks IMHO, but also administratively incompetent too.

The upside of helping our friend with the hires, was that we could use the van anytime it wasn't rented out (it was before we had our own). (y)

We were amongst some of the original investors with this company when they were giving 10% on 35k we stayed with them for three years and then withdrew. Glad we didn't return although the investment was through a chattel mortgage so quite safe. But feeling sorry for anyone caught up with the hassle this will cause.

I just hope they have been reported to Companies house and are stopped from doing a Phoenix. It took a number of months to get my deposit back when I hired from them, the lies I was told proved to me that they were pond life especially the women who headed it up.

I hired a van off them about 5 years ago. Got ripped off charged for using toilet rolls etc £300. Harassed the hell out of them till I got it back

I see in the 'Missing Motorhomes' thread that 54 of the fleets borrowed motorhomes have now been reported stolen

I bet the liquidators cannot find the hirers records, or the owners want the motors back off the liquidators. Sad
