Does anyone know if British MOT extension covers Spain?

If asked for an mot & you produce the old one ,even if it was extended the guardia A ) have no idea & B) won't usually believe it. Legally the only way to get it back is recovery vehicle.

It appears from the government website that the MOT extension period only applied for a period last year, but no longer.

From a UK legislation point of view you can drive it without an MOT so long as you are driving it straight to a prearranged appointment. They will expect you to drive a minimal distance, i.e. not across the country to an appointment.

How you stand with your insurance and foreign law enforcement is your issue (it makes sense that it would be illegal). In the UK it used to be a £100 fine if caught (non-endorsable) although in theory the fine could be a lot more.

To drive it abroad i.e to the ferry it needs to be legal in its home country. Road tax and MOT it will not have.

From Spain? Try explaining that to a Spanish or French Law enforcement Officer...
It's been locally reported in the region of Spain where we are, that, transportation needs to be arranged for repatriation of overstayed vehicles due to Covid and other matters..
Many who left there vehicles and now need to reclaim them are having the same problems..
