We have managed to get a table at Osteria Francescana next month, so I'm investigating somewhere to stay for a couple of nights. The restaurant is in the city centre.

There's a campsite about 5km from the centre, Camping International, but it doesn't get very good reviews, and getting to the restaurant would involve a walk and a bus, but we'd probably get a taxi.

There's a 'camperstop/aire' run by a local camper club - Area Camper Club Mutina - which looks OK for a couple of nights. Again about 5km from the centre so would require a taxi.

There's free overnight parking in what is basically a car park, next to Parco Enzo Ferrari, which would be OK, but some of the reviews mention break-ins, so that worries be a bit. Only a 20 minute walk to the restaurant, so very convenient from that point of view.

Has anyone stayed overnight in Modena fairly recently and can offer advice, please?

It's not got easy access to the centre, so you'll need to taxi. The site is ok, lots of rules though!

We went to the Enzo museum (glossy, but not a lot of content, parked our small van in their carpark) stayed at the above site for the night, then went on to the Ducati factory (much better).

The site is kind of on a small commercial/ industrial estate outside the city.
