Just wondered if there was anything in the pipeline for a stripped down version of the site for mobile users??

The site is great but when accessing via a mobile phone connection all the pictures and graphics slow it down to a snails pace and cost a fortune to load (especially if accessing abroad)!!

Any chance of a simplified version for mobile access in the future???

Any comments from the "Powers That Be"?? Jim.....Brian.......anyone????

I mentioned this to Jim at Peterborough and he said that it could be done.. I guess other things are more important at the moment, and after all, there are only so many hours in a day.

I have done some work toward this already. I have purchased a slick, no graphics skin, that will fly on a mobile or PDA. If I just installed it I'm sure we would all use it graphic free:BigGrin:problem is, our adverts are graphics and if we all bypassed them, it would not be long before we had no advertisers, and without them no MotorhomeFun!

That said, it is important that travelling funsters can use their mobiles to log in, so I am working on a gizmo that will auto detect a mobile or PDA and only then switch to the slimmed down, graphics free version. This way we keep our advertisers as well as our travelling funsters happy:Smile:

We are a little way from this happening as I am strapped for time but hopefully I should have it up and running in a couple of months. :thumb:

Thanks Jim for all the work you put in and of course our Bryan:thumb:

Great news!!!:thumb:

Keep up the good work guys, your reward will be in heaven!!!

3 months later ... any news yet on when mobile site will be online?

Oh, and would it be possible for users (via their CP) to be able to exclude forums from their view - With limited download speed / capabilities, I think it would be a good way of streamlining what data I have to download by removing forums that I don't want to see.

Thanks,

Papa

I have been working on it, but ....

Hopefully will have it functioning soon:Smile:
