Day late starting this blog, left home yesterday afternoon to head down to the tunnel.Qeen Elizabeth bridge shut just as we approached the ramp and we were stuck there for 20 mins.I Suspect an accident as we had lot's of yellow lights up there.quick meet at stop 24 with my son ,dil and grandson and of to the tunnel .no check on wether we had turned gas off just asked us if we had
Played cards with them as we crossed under the Channel and then a short hop to overnight at gravelines which Google maps has told us we've been pronouncing it wrong evidently it's grave a lina

Enjoy. We will be off to the snow as soon as this silly festive malarkey is done with.

Day 2
Not a great day Google gave the first leg of our journey to metz via luxemburgh for fuel and fags as 5 hours driving. With traffic accidents and road works it was close to eight.still we arrived in metz and headed in to the Christmas markets.in metz they are spread over 6 sites but all within a mile some nice food but the the rest was mostly over priced tat.Highlight was the light show on the front of the cathedral which was amazing.
We've parked in the car park by the river outside the campsite which is shut for winter.

Ok have arrived in grand bonard to find it's hosting the finals of the biathlon by the time we got parked up we just got to see the last few come over the finish hill not sure what it actually entails but think it's ski ing and shooting as the have some sort of pellet guns on there backs
As the campsite is quite low there's lots of rain and slush not sure I'm that impressed at the moment
Nice meal in the campsite resturant probably the best Apple crumble I've ever had cooked in reverse with Apple's on the top Dil Had raised pigs cheek which was beautifully tender but a bit to windy for me I'm not big on wine in food rounded the evening of with a couple of games of rumikub beaten by an eight year old

Ok ive missed a few days just been so busy ,my son has to have everything planned to make the most of their time off.We had a mooch around the town and stopped for hot chocolate and cake.Asked about doing but there's not much here you have get a bus up to the higher villagewhich were doing in the morning

I've lost track of days we went up to the next village hired some kit and had a couple of hours on the baby slopes with all of us falling at least one
I've it was snowing quite a bit so that's my excuse.moving on to Christmas Eve we had a restaurant booked again in the higher village which was where it seems everything happens. We were there late afternoon to see the torchlight run down the mountain followed by a parade with still walkers and Santa on a sleigh, couple of mulled wines and then a walk to the restaurant for dinner.Chalet restaurant was at the top of the longest flight of steps known to man 180 something I'm told I didn't have the breathe to climb and count.lovely timber chalet with a view across the snow I told my grandson we were having dinner in a shed.
Meal was very nice five orsix courses and all very nice, problem was we booked a cab home for ten on the recommendation of the restaurant re timing. At ten we were only on our second course and got the restaurant to reschedule the cab for eleven at twenty to we were served both our last courses together to get us out in time.
Down the 180 steps we went no cab waited a while and then my fit DIL run back up to be told he was there long story short he arrived an hour late.Grandson was exposing to the driver he had to get home Incase he missed santa

I've had to transfer to pad as writing on a phone is difficult.TOday is Christmas day and what a beautiful day we've had after four days here we woke up to hard snow and bright sunshine took the gondola up to the ski area and realised this was where we should have come on the second day to ski it was wonderful with lots of nursery type slopes with small lifts but hey ho were of to a proper ski place tomorrow.had coffee and cake watching the skiers and then back down to the vans.son and grandson Took the plastic sledge for some fun in the snow while we got chrimbo dinner in the oven ,we had made turkey wrapped around force meat and wrapped in bacon at home and brought them out frozen so we had traditional dinnerwith crackers and pud a few glasses of wine and some games around the table.

This morning I found a converted school bus on our site with English number plates and a Welsh dragon emblems
The owners were from swansea had the bus a year and were planning on staying away at least a year they were having problems with their gas and I directed him to test and narrowed it down to reg either kaput or frozen I don't know how to do photos from pad so expect several photos on next post from phone tommorow

Pictures as promised, we've been in val thorns two days now and have at lastmanaged a couple of days skiing to mean to buy a lift pass so mostly on the nursery slopes it's over 40 years since I've skied and was pleasantly suprised how quick it came back.-10 here last night and it was snowing all day yesterday so we had a panic with batteries down to 12vs.beutifull sunshine today and 50 watts going in now so should be ok tonight ,one of the batteries came with the van so unsure of it's age the other we put in 3 years ago so may have to test them both when we get home.
We've eaten out here the first night fondue not some thing I would bother with again especially at the prices here28 emus a head to share a bowel of warm cheese and a plate of cold meat
More panic last night as we realised we had left our selves a very small window to find a vet .actually it was a 3.5 hour window or one of us would be staying with the dogs,we have however managed to book a vet for 9.30 monday near Lyon so ok now provided we can get out of here see last picture of diane with the dogs
