Brute strenght and hope nothing breaks.
That's if they were put on right in the first place.
Could try heating the back of the guards to soften the adhesive on the pads inside.

Why are they being removed.

Trading the van in and only put them on recently. I did fit them properly so I'm thinking they're not likely to come off easily.

Ah I've stated something now! I've pushed my deal as far as I can I'm afraid hence the thought of taking them off.

I never took the paper off the sticky side of the inside pads, so easy to come off. Chances are you might want to renew the pads if stuck on. Quite easy to buy online replacement foam rubber with one side sticky. Cut to size and super glue back on! (y)

Thanks Brian. I did remove the tape so expect they'll be difficult to get off!

I would be inclined to leave them on rather than risk messing up the original mirrors. The cost of replacements is nothing compared to what you'll be spending on the van.

That may well be that's what we do in the end. I'm not going to risk damaging the mirrors if they won't come off easily. Having seen posts on here about them being stolen off vans, I thought it might be fairly simple to remove them.

When they've been stolen of vans I don't think the thieving scrotes care that much if they destroy the mirror in the process

Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
I would warm them up with a hairdryer or similar and then gently prise them off.

many many years! since I was a kid
worst case, you will tear the pads rather than release the glue. They really are easy to pull off without damage

I have a pair in my garage that I purchased for mine last year second hand.
But mine is a 2013 Fiat ducato with a small tit at the bottom of the drivers mirror air temperature sensor.
So no good for mine.
Open to offers.

I think for a 100 quid I would leave them on as start breaking mirror components it can soon cost more .

400 quid for last mirror I cracked .

Went to empty the van yesterday as we've traded it in for a new Burstner Lyseo. I thought I'll have a go at removing the mirror guards. Just lifted the bottom edge gently and they both came off! No tools no hair dryers etc etc. Good news and bad news really. Glad we managed to remove them so easily but a bit concerned at how easily they can be removed!

Just to let you know I had to use clamps to get them on my mirrors ,so whatever you do take it it easy with them, as I would probably break mine if I removed them.
