Setting of from north Manchester on Tuesday and for a change we are using A75 instead of A63, to get to Spain, is it worth going through Millau or going over viaduct? time is not an issue but Millau look a bit of a pain, lots of gear changing so lots of fuel.

Worth stopping on the service area on the north side ( southbound) as there is a visitor centre and view point. Millay as a town is not much but if you have the time there are roads that go under the bridge that are worth a visit. But defo the service area.

Perhaps depends whether you've been over the bridge before?

If not, definitely worth giving it a go. There's a service area just on the north side, which might be worth a stop if the weather's good - provides a great view of the bridge and a free visitor centre illustrating how it was constructed. (y)

Edit: to add David and Sally said it just before me about the service area!

Its a great road and toll free except for crossing the bridge - 10E I think.
It is high so need to climb to the viaduct crossing and descend down the other side but its not not really steep.
I would and I would go down the east side of Paris via Rheims, Troyes and Auxerre

Go into Millau & stay overnight at ACSI site which is a bit cheaper than the toll I believe.
There’s a few bars & restaurants & it’s twinned with Bridlington so can’t be that bad!

We stayed at the aire in Compregnac, near Peyre. Fantastic views of the valley and bridge.

Good suggestion and we also do the same. Time our trip so a stop in Millau is due. There is a Camping Car Parks aire in the town but the ACSI sites are better and around the same price. Make sure you don't go through the city centre. Millau is definitely worth visiting.

You have to do the bridge at some stage so this time would get it off your bucket list then every future time you can spend 15 minutes longer going through the town and spending the saved money on wine
