Getting the hang of it
As its still uncertain whether or not we'll get across the water this year we have been making plans to tour in the UK and have settled on going to Orkney.
Is there a problem with midges on Orkney we'll be arriving late June for a week or so and would hate to have a holiday ruined by the little blighters.

No you will not have a problem with Midges, as there is a light constant wind. Especially in the coast no midges at all. Go for it if allowed you will love it the, people are very friendly, the history sites and tourist places are worth it. Not sure what you are interested in but there is plenty to see and it has a quiet peaceful feel to the islands.

You’ll love it. It’s fantastic. We’ve been twice but we actually go to Shetland every year although last year’s was cancelled. Looking forward to going back when we can, possibly not until next year. We have made great friends there.
Don’t big up Shetland too much we want it to stay quiet 😜😎😜

Oops. Sorry. Just can’t help it, love it so much. We usually stay down at Quendale.
By the old miltary buildings at the end of the road or is there a pitch at the farm ?
WE tend to go up to Baltasound on Unst and then use the various Community hall or Marina park ups

No we rented a cottage and befriended the couple next door. First time we went by motorbike then car the other times to be able to bring more wool back. 😃 🧶 would consider camper next time though.

Yeah. I concur. Benn many times. Too breezy. In fact you don't get many in Inverness and northward. No more than anywhere else that is and certainly not like the rest of Scotland.
