Has anyone had any success with electronic devices to deter mice from their motorhome?

The ultrasonic devices only really work with line of sight. Ultrasound is absorbed by many surfaces. So a chirper in the hab area wouldn't do much for mice in the cupboards, and would do almost nothing to those investigating your engine bay.

Don’t know if this works for mice but for rats we’re using vinegar which keeps them away.

I’m not trying to catch them, or eat rat on a stick, just want to keep them away from the MH. Since putting a barrier around the MH (we’re on a CL) we’ve not had any night time visitors investigating the underside and waking us up 🛌

Having worked as a pest Controller for 20 years, I can attest that plug in sound emitting devices are a pure waste of money.

The best method for control of mice inside a vehicle is using trapping devices.
Break back (snap) traps.
Nutella or peanut butter are the best attractants.
If you would rather not harm/kill the mice, there are 'humane traps available.

Feel free to message me if you want advice with pest control.

Couldn’t agree more. I don’t have your experience, but have been controlling the buggers for years. Hit them hard, lots of little nipper traps and keep going for a few weeks after the last captures.. Bait wise I favour dark high cocoa chocolate with nuts and fruit. Currently using Tesco 70% with ground hazelnut and raspberry..

We found droppings recently in the pan draw under the fridge. Cleaned it up placed traps but not caught any culprits but no more droppings. It must have come in and left as no food source. Caught others before we store the moho on a farm.

What is your thought about bait?

I've always thought not to put anything down to attract them otherwise you'll bring more in
if there is no source of food they will go elsewhere?

I've put glue mats down when I've seen evidence of mice but never trapped one on a mat and never seen any further evidence once they are down. Not sure if it's coincidence?

Bait, poison?
They'll eat it if nothing else is available, but they might die somewhere out of sight and cause a very nasty smell (and possibly cause a fly problem)
Sticky boards should be the last resort - of you're seeing multiple mice/rats all the time.
They are effective, but need checking every 12 hours (to reduce the risk of unnecessary suffering)
Snap traps are the way to go imo

definitely snap traps we use a currant and we have caught two on successive evenings no more since but the trap awaits a victim
also, bait outside the van saw one going mental after eating it.

Two bucket traps either side of van with little ramps up with thinly smeared peanut butter, Google it, you will not get mice in your van with these

brilliant, going to make one as soon as I get home. Stick it under the engine bay.

we vev got someone next to us right now who have been having problems for the last 10 days, absolute nightmare for them.

I've seen some ingenious bucket trap videos on YouTube.
Philippine and Malaysian children have it down to a fine art.

Out of interest, what becomes of the mice you trap?

We do have some kit in the engine bay, Peppermint oil seems to work and a Terrier will tell you if you have little visitors and possibly catch them.
Pip likes the smell of the mice-we found some droppings in passenger footwell, she alerted us to them-but she’s not quite up to catching them yet, she tries when we are out on walks!
Nick found an enlarged hole-for cables-under the dash and after filling it with sealant and putting some peppermint oils under there we’ve not had any more evidence but Pip keeps a nose on it!

Mice serve no useful purpose, genuinely they are just vermin, so please dispatch them!

I pack a little case for each of them with a bit of cheese, sunglasses and shorts and let them go at the beach:unsure:

we keep our van on a farm so we chuck the dead ones out for the birds of prey ...they never last long :)

Sound delicious hope I don't get caught in that trap :giggle:

I havejust been visited by our furry friends looking for a comfortable home for the winter, due to not being in Spain yet !!!!
I spent good money on ultrasonic devices, but as Paul.L and Harvey (Carpmart) suggested, the way to go is with the old fashioned but very effective snaptraps, I bought some and immediately started getting results, bought some more traps and caught 10/12 so far,

Bit messy getting rid of the bodies, cleaning and resetting the traps with chocolate as bait, but very efffective, must admit have trapped my fingers more times than trapped mice though

What I found was by baiting the traps with chocolate it encouraged them to come into the van because of the smell of the chocolate. That is why, like yourself, I caught so many.

You could well be right about the chocolate, the reason I said 10/12, was that I had set some traps in the engine compartment and two went missing one morning, I doubt the mice had dragged themselves off with traps and a broken back !!!, so guess the pressure spring release had caused the traps to jump off the little ledge where I had placed it, they will probably drop out when I move the MH,

Mouse traps with skeletons hahaha
