Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a MH electrician, 12 volt prob's, near to Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk, please
Thanks
Joe & Sue

Hi Andy,

No 12 volt unless on hook-up, solar controller no lights on at all, thinking batteries but want to get it checked out by someone who knows, I am no good at electrics especially 12 volt systems.

Thanks
Joe

It's not hard and it's a good time to learn :)
Will also save yourself a fortune too.
Sounds like it could be batteries flat..
Would you be prepared to buy a tester (£3.85)
Do you have a battery charger?

Eg

Amazon product ASIN B0714J1WX7

Hi,

thanks will have a go at weekend, have had van for 5 years and same batteries as when we got it, so could be batteries, but we always keep EHU plugged in at home,
Can't understand the solar controller though, someone said it could have packed up and cooked the batteries, not sure how to test that one out
Don't want to put new ones on and then cook them
Oh and there are 4 batteries so not a cheap mistake to make
Could I just disconnect solar controller and not use it for now?
Thanks for your help
Joe

If batteries are totally dead then solar controller won't work or charge them. It needs power to operate.
but in answer to "can you disconnect it.. YES, absolutely
with a BUT....
disconnect solar panel wires from the panels to the controller rather than disconnecting the wires from the battery to the controller.

thanks that's great, that's me sorted for the weekend,
will keep you up=dated
thanks
joe
Joe, I am in Thetford..
If you would like to come over I would be happy to check it out and run a meter over it..
We are in all weekend so not a problem..
Been retired 4 years now but seem to work on more motorhomes than ever before!
Obviously absolutely FOC as your a Funster
If interested, I will PM you address and fone number

Sounds like the hab battery master fuse to me.
Battery will be totally isolated and might as well be missing.
