Still looking for the one !
We believe we know the layout that we want, this has not changed for a couple of months. However what has changed is our budget and our understanding of how far this will stretch. We have increased it and being able to look at newer models.
With the winter time and what I assume to be a slower time for dealers, linked to shifting 2019 stock most are advertising sales. However looking at original prices and sales prices are not what I work expect to see. An original price of £50k “slashed” to £49k or £48k is not what I’d term a discount.
Maybe just me or is it the poor dealer working on so slim margins that they cannot afford what I would think is an enticing discounted price of say 5% to 10%. I would expect to negotiate a better discount at anytime of year, but saying that I have never purchased anything more that a caravan previously.
What should my expectation be at say on a £50k vehicle? What are members experiences?

I’ve heard trade is still brisk as buyers want what is on the forecourt rather than ordering the new Euro 6d engine with much higher VED.

Yes possibly true, no real discounts then !

When we were looking for a moho we both thought that the prices of 2019/18/17 models would keep their price better due to the new ved in 2020.

High volume manufacturer, the dealer may “give away” some or most if his margin based on the fact that he can go and get another one tomorrow from his/manufacturers field of MHs to go towards his huge target and get his volume bonus

Low volume manufacturer, the dealer may only have a couple of them all model-year, so has to make his money from less sales

Remember that front-end discount is one of the main destroyers of Residual Values

I think the cost of anything is largely related to what it can be sold for. Any dealer selling just a couple a year will be bust pretty quickly I suspect!. Discounts do destroy residuals but as long as you got the discount on the purchase the%lost on what you actually pay will not be affected.

To be clear, i meant he might only have “a couple” of each model available to him, and OP might want a specific model that cant be just picked off shelf , as opposed to a Swift Escape or Auto-trail model that can be bought anywhere

No matter

One thing for sure if a mh lasts a good few years the cost will pale over time. Happy Christmas
