Whilst I tend to favour the traditional French reds, as an experiment I happened to buy a 1L brick of tinto (red) from Mercadona and found it is surprisingly good.
It cost €1.05 which is about 88p a litre.

All the box says is that the wine is a product of Espagna.
I suspect there is some good wine and a hearty amount of EU subsidy going in here and I am very happy to benefit.

Anyone know anything about this wine?

How much should I bring back to rainy UK? PS - Van can carry 500 kg

I think the fresh water holds 90L. Need to look at the manual. Consider that! Alternatively I could turn water into wine?

Tinto wine is a mix of merlot and Shiraz and normally the grapes for the tinto are hand picked from the higher part of the vineyard and selected first and have the honor of being initially stamped on by virgin female pickers before being pressed and processed with bread yeast.
Tinto sold in shops has not gone through the full process and is sold whilst still fermenting and if stored at over 20 degrees should really be depressurized hourly in order to prevent explosions.

Stop being a cheap skate & step up a notch. Wife swears by ‘Don Simon’ at (I think) €1.45 litre. I am a beer drinker not a wine drinker but at that price I endorse her opinion
