Can anyone help please - we are due to travel to France/Spain in our Motorhome on the Roscoff ferry very soon - our friend is flying back to her home in Spain prior to our journey - she is unable to take her prescription medication with her as she’s restricted with weight to hand luggage - we have the printed prescription slips to accompany the medication. Is this a legal re customs ? Thanks in anticipation .

Can’t help, but someone will👍

Perhaps a letter of authority from her with her contact details might help!

Your medicine is not counted in your weight limit when travelling with hand luggage. She should take her own………never carry other peoples meds.

I guess it may not be possible if some of the meds are controlled drugs and you could not possess them, you could be guilty of possession with intent to supply to another ☹️

Podney - many thanks for your reply - can I ask where we can view this fact so as to quote back to our friend ?

If you did not from the posts here you surely do now.
Take care avoid a holiday you could never plan for, in a small locked room.

A VERY strange request... regardless of how well I know them I would never ask someone else to take my medication.. and more importantly I would NEVER let my medication out of my sight... of coarse just my view..

Importing drugs into Spain FROM the UK? That's a novel idea! Just how heavy are the packages? On serious note I have no idea but I would think HMRC/Border Control would be the authority on what you can an cannot take/do and the people to ask rather than an internet forum unless as a previous post stated *You like small rooms*

It is illegal to share prescription medication in the UK although it’s not illegal to collect someone else’s prescription from the chemist for them. It would definitely be illegal for you to be in possesion of prescription medication for someone else even if you had a doctor’s covering letter plus that person’s repeat prescription if you were entering the USA for anything. You might get away with it going into Spain depending on what she has but I wouldn’t do it as I think you would struggle to prove it and it would almost certainly be confiscated at the least.

If her medication is really that bulky and some people do have a rucksack full then it’s her problem and she will have to pay for hold luggage for her clothes.

Really?????

It comes from that well known literary work…..The Book of Common Sense.

All sorted - we will not be taking any meds for anyone - Thankyou all for your advise - couldn’t see the wood for the trees yesterday when we were put on the spot - happy camping CB .
It is always tricky when someone asks what seems (on the face of it) to be a reasonable favour especially if a friend.
Glad you have sorted it .
