Maybe the wrong section but it's a screen cover query.

So the little trip we had to Waxham highlighted how much condensation we get around the windscreen area. My darling wife has decided the we need a screen cover. I duly contacted Minster who have a template for our MH and can get us sorted within a week but now my wife is concerned about the lack of natural light and the view..........
So, question 1: Are these type of screen covers easily put on and taken off on a daily basis?
Question 2: If the answer to question 1 is yes, are they designed to be repeatedly put on and taken off (ie daily basis)
Question 3: Would a dehumidifier be more effective?

Thank you for your patience, I've run out of it 🙄

In my experience they are easycenough to put on /take off but I wouldnt want to take it off every morning. You can get a version with a centre panel that can be un-velco'd 2/3rd down each day and either has a mesh behind it to let light in or is just open (as ours is). It is dark around the driver/passenger seats with the screens on. Personally wouldnt use a dehumidifier, space would be an issue for us and overuse can damage laminates inside your van

You can get the screen covers with a centre panel which pulls down through the day thus letting natural light in.
THis photo shows it pulled just halfway down.

Thank you, I've showed her the pictures on the Minster site but she's worried that with the 2 sides not having the "prive-see" section, the interior of the van will be dark.

It may be a bit dark. We dont use external screens at all as never like being unabld to move without going outside. We use a Karcher window vac if we get condensation.

We use paragon Silverscreens they have a full privacy screen for daytime and completely insulated for nights all done with Velcro very easy.

Once you open the front panel it certainly couldn't be considered dark inside!

Unless you're particularly worried about people staring at you inside your van during the day then you don't need the "prive-see" option (Do you have net curtains at home?)

You really don't need to remove the whole thing every day, unless you intend to drive.

Cheers
Red.

External screens is the way to go. Internal screens look nicers, not detracting from the vans looks so much but are largeley a waste of time as heat or cold are already penetrating the screen, External often spoil the looks of your van but they do more for the internal comfort of your van like a tea cosy. I agree absolutely they detract from the delightful views outside. Get around this by aiming your large picture window at it and enjoy the view from your table while dining.

Silver screens with privacy panel.
Front section comes right off leaving a mesh in place (that’s removable too) that creates the privacy panel.
If she wants daylight in all the time she can’t have windscreen covers!

IMHO dehumidifier cause more damp than they solve.
Was your trip to Waxham recent.. if so you should not be getting condensation issues at this time of year.. if you are getting issues you need more ventilation.. Windows or roof lights left open..
But yes in winter screens are beneficial.

Waxham was last weekend. The habitation door is permanently open during the day, as are a majority of the roof vents and windows.......is it now that I need to get worried?

We get a little condensation in the summer on the inside of the screen but usually when it’s been a hot day then a cold night, we always have the big Heiki open and the washroom roof is always open.
If you are getting a lot of liquid maybe it’s time to investigate!

As Shrimp says... yes maybe time to get worried.... maybe... you should not be getting excessive condensation at this time of year... However we do get some first thing when we put kettle on for breakfast cuppa... but it is really mild and clears itself within an hour or so.

For anyone who fancies a drippng front screen. Use an inside reflective screen with roof vents closed. Your morning inside screen should be awash with condensation, an ideal time to test a Kartcher windscreen vac.

I have seen and used, in the past, a glass which when electricity is passed through a filament embedded in the glass it turns opaque, would that work on a MH ??

I flew somwhere where the aircraft windows could be made opaque by the passengers. Not such a bad idea for motorhomes if on hookup. I am begining to wonder if the thread would wish the windows to remain clear:think:
