Hi all,
I'm aware that it's a subject as old as time, but I'm interested in hearing your collective first hand experiences, be they positive or negative. I was pretty much decided on getting a Maxxair fan until I started seeing negative reports with people stating that their's lasted a couple of years before getting rattly, buzzy, or just stopped worked altogether. This led me to research alternatives, and specifically the Airplus Deluxe, which appears to get good reviews.

So, I guess my questions are:
1. would you recommend the Maxxfan Deluxe?
2. would you recommend the Airplus Deluxe?
3. neither, just get a standard rooflight

Thanks in advance

There’s a few threads on both the maxxfan and the generic Airplus, known as a few names.
All have good reviews all have the odd issue pointed out.
Your choice at the end of the day, if it breaks it breaks, someone could have years of service from something then you buy same item only it breaks quickly, luck of the draw

I like the Maxxfan, and have had no issues with it. It’s right above our bed and we can leave it running overnight at10% and it’s very quiet.

Don’t have any experience of the Airplus so can’t give a comparison.

Don’t know of that helps.

Maxxfan deluxe, fitted to both my motorhomes, wouldn’t be without it, in Gdansk Poland at the moment with 26 C and fan is giving a pleasant breeze as we lay relaxing, far superior to just a roof light,

Thanks for that. This leads on to my next question of … if I'm only having one fan, is it better to position it directly over the bed or just behind the cab?

Just looked up the details for the Airplus and it states that it fits a 355 x355 hole - not 400 x 400 which our small roof lights are.

They are available in 2 sizes so you can get the one you need.

There are a few discussions going on around this and I believe a couple of people have ordered the "Airplus" which is in fact a rebadged Chinese fan that goes under lots of brand names including Belluna (which I only mention as it may help you search on here to find previous conversations on the subject)

I've personally had no issues with my MaxFan but there are a few things I think aren't as good as they could / should be and I think they've been a bit lazy in not doing the R&D to update the product because they didn't really have much competition.

Belluna are squarely and unapologetically targeting their sales as a direct comparison to the MaxFan and on paper it does look like a good option. I've just never seen an 'unbiased' review of one yet

Would fit a Maxxfan in an instant in a new van. I class it as a must have item now having had one for years. Use it every day I use the van.

Definitely don’t fit over the bed.

Can I ask why? We have one fitted over the bed and it’s brilliant.
They let too much light in, and the fan too restricted if blind used across it. As they are power-full you can have the noise and the light elsewhere.
We use ours every night, it’s in the middle of van. We have on extract, last night at 40%, and the bedside windows open, so it draws lovely cool fresh air across the bed during the night.

I ordered the white cover and not the clear for that reason, it’s over the bed and works superbly ,
I cut down the remis blind to fit and that totally blocks the light if needed with no obstruction of air flow when open,

This is this morning with vent open with bright sun outside,

We don’t have one but also get nice cool air over the beds when we open the skylights at night, even when it’s hot.

Can I ask did you screw the top down?
How far does the lower section come past the ceiling line

Maxxfan in our van, moving air is a great way of maintaining a cooling effect...perfect here in Spain..🇪🇦👍

Both nets are in place for the the usual mosquito/ flys but probably insufficient for midges,
But nothing to stop you adding a midge net if needed,

I screwed and glued but you can just glue if you want,
In my case with a Ducato camper due to the longitudinal ridges in the roof there is a plastic plinth that raises the fan unit so it’s flush fitting to the inside ceiling,

One vote for maxxair fan deluxe. Ive got 2, both work well. I installed mine with just CT1. No screws. 2k later and it's still on the roof!

I do wish I'd known about the separate sealing kit you can purchase. going to have to get back on the roof again now 😠
