Good morning,
Sadly my 2012 Sprinter van conversion does not have aircon, and I wondered if the Maxxair roof fan would be a good buy as a cheaper option than retro fitting aircon, or an aircon unit for the roof.
Any advice much appreciated.

We have this installed in our Carthago and are very pleased with it. It's a very well built unit and the fan is quiet at low speeds. Can be used to suck or blow air into the MH whether the canopy is open or closed. I believe you can also drive with the canopy open but not personally done this as we always have the cab aircon on whilst driving when hot.

In the night we only have the roof light open within the bedroom and the Maxxair on either 10/20% and you can really feel the air being drawn through to effectively cool us down. Yes, it's no aircon unit but to date we have no complaints and are able to use it whilst off grid.

Fantastic fan or Maxxair , both can keep it bearable for probably 95% of the time and aircon needs mains EHU to be viable for any length of time . It is also noisier outside .

Ditto Hellski
Mine has been keeping the van cool throughout the trip so far especially at night
Set at 20% or auto
Wired to twin 110A batts fed by solar so all free apart from initial cost .
See Rainbow Conversions cheapest I've found and super fast service

A/C units can be used on the move with good batteries and a decent capacity alternator.

Sprinters usually have higher outputs, as high as 280

Thanks guys, it sounds like it would be money well spent.
I know it will never be as good as aircon but that would probably cost me in the region of £1500 for aircon, which I cannot really justify just for uk only expeditions.

With mainly UK travel, you will certainly find the Maxxair more than adequate (y)

They can also be used on the move if you have a 6.5kva genset built in :)

We love our maxair we leave it in the up position at night without fan on and it helps clear the fug so you wake up in fresh clean air. It is also great for clearing cooking smells out of the van when it’s raining, when you would not normally want windows or doors open.
