plus other extremely silly quotes , so phoned current company and was told that to cancel my insurance it would cost me £75 so added to the
"new customer deals" so I might as well wait until renewal time and see what I get

Go on TopCashback and Quidco and use their own searches, at present TCB give £42 cashback and Quidco £40 so that could help you decide whether to do it now or not ... I've just done our car as it's due 2nd Jan and it was £137 less £42 cashback so just £95!!!

If you wait you could easily find that the £75 is more than covered by any saving you make especially if you take the cashback into account too.
