Can anyone please advise the make and model of the OE starter battery that is fitted to Fiat Ducato-based PVC’s currently? I’d imagine the converter wouldn’t change the starter battery that came out of the Fiat factory but, just in case, I’m particularly interested in the Adria Twin. Many thanks.

Mine was built in Sept 2019 and is a Varta, but I can't see what the model is.

OK thanks. Would love to know the model/type if anyone can help? I’m asking because I’ve just picked up an Adria Twin and have pitched overnight on EHU and am puzzled (not concerned yet!) why the starter battery is reading 12.7v on the control panel whereas the leisure battery reads 13.5v. I know the leisure battery is an AGM, so knowing what type the starter battery is could help explain the difference. I can’t check myself at the moment as it’s absolutely lashing down outside...

Could it not be as simple as;
When on EHU, the Starter battery is not being charged by the on board charger of the van.
12.7 for a battery at rest is no problem.

It could well be, although I thought (emphasis on “thought”) that being on EHU would also provide a charge (even a float) to the starter battery...? But it’s good to know that 12.7v at rest for a starter battery is OK. I’m also being careful as the radio runs off the starter battery, so I don’t want to drain it. While it’s lashing down with rain in Somerset, I’m wading through the various manuals and researching the internet to try to familiarise myself with the setup. Not obvious to a relative newbie...

A 6d engine will have a smart alternator and I was told that the engine battery voltage will sometimes be held at a lower voltage. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Batteries have a code model number that relates to specs, dimensions. Terminal position cca etc. It will be on the battery. Find that and you can buy another the same. It sounds like the star battery isn’t charging from the EHU. I would have thought it should. My Adria does.

My engine battery always shows a lower voltage than the leisure battery when on EHU. It only gets a trickle feed from the mains charger.

Many thanks for all your inputs. Based on them and the subsequent clarification plus associated research of my van's electrical setup, I'm pretty confident that all is well with/between the starter and leisure batteries. However, I am considering adding a decent battery monitor (eg. NASA BM-1 or Victron BMV) to have a more informed view of what's going in and out of the leisure battery...

I have a Victron BMV, very pleased with it. Can be profiled for all battery types which I think is important.

We have the 6D engine and our engine battery often reads low- quite low! Not had an issue yet nor have I looked at it but I’m keeping an eye on it. It’s now fed by a battery master/solar panel so shouldn’t be a problem - I hope

we do have a Victron smartshunt for the leisure battery and it’s really good!
