Magic Earth Satnav on android phone

Hi,

Just a for info.

I've been using magicearth on my android phone for satnav functionality

Ive just installed a newer version and it now has a truck option. You set your vehicle height, width, length and weight
I haven't tried it yet and tbh with a converted VW transporter I wouldn't be able to test it.

If someone out there is already using it or fancies giving it a try would be good know the results

You can download maps to your phone so mobile data is not needed when driving.

It also allows you to put the maps on an SD card.

Map files are quite large compared to copilot and thus take a while to download. Best to do at home before a trip. UK, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain and Portugal took several hours on a reasonably fast connection.

It's main advantage over Copilot is that it is FREE.

I hadn't thought about map sizes of competitors. France and the UK are the big two, 4gb and 2.5gb.

For info: Magic Earth update the maps about every two months but you can choose when or if you want to update your maps.

Yes, whole of western Europe on copilot is less than 4Gb.
