We are trying to make sense of the regulations for Madrid. We can't get a sticker as our vehicle is not registered in Spain. Some websites say our French Crit'air sticker will be accepted....but not in Madrid. We only want to go round Madrid on the M-50, part of which is in the LEZ. Is it "excluded' as it is part of the motorway system? Even if it is, do we have to register our vehicle with the Spanish authorities which appears to be a requirement for foreign vehicles before entering a LEZ? Any recent experience would be helpful.

Yes foreign vehicles that have stickers from elsewhere have to obtain " equivalence" That has to be done in person & by appointment inside the ZBE ( low Emission Zone) you can't make the stuff up.

It should be in english ,if not ,top right click the three horizontal bars ( the hamburger) & scroll to translate

It says on there that
**
From 2025, vehicles without label and not registered in Madrid, whether or not foreigners, will no longer be able to access any district of the city and will only be able to cross it on the M-40, M-45 and M-50. **
