Hoping that the occupants of the motorhome that was on fire on the M6 are safe and unhurt. We were heading north from the A66. All happened about 2 hours ago. We could see a huge plume of thick black smoke near Carlisle and then after several miles realised that the source was a fully alight motorhome on the south bound hard shoulder. Fire crews in attendance and motorway about to be shut. The heat - even on the opposite carriageway - was on horrendous and frightening.
A very sobering experience as we head to the Hebrides. Glad that we've invested in 2 extinguishers including a firestick. I feel so sorry for the folk on board. Take care everyone and stay safe.

We drove south past Carlisle a few hours ago we must have just been ahead of the unfortunate people I hope they are safe and well

Certainly looks like a fire in the engine compartment rather than the habitation section.

Horrible experience.
