Right here goes our first official post!

Does anybody out there have any contacts for a storage facility East Bristol/ Keynsham/Bath?

We have room at the front of the house but it’s going to be very tight and I quite like the idea of storing it elswhere.

I have only found one site with space but it’s about 15 miles away so not ideal.
I know that there are probably places out there which offer storage but don’t advertise (any help greatly appreciated)

Thanks
Adrian

We went round our local farms, to see if any of them had room to keep ours at, and struck gold at the second asking! It’s only a five minute walk away, stored behind double locked gates, and the owner’s son lives on the premises. We have our own keys, so have 24 hour access, if we need it. We love it, and so do our insurers!

Good idea that’s the weekend sorted!

Thanks very much

You could ask at Roberts Bros nurseries on Filton Road near where it passes under the M32. They have a few MH stored there but I don’t know if official site. It’s opposite Frenchay Cricket Club.

Thanks very much I'll check it out.

Google maps are very useful!!(y)

Your insurer may insist on a recognised storage site so if stored on a farm you have two options.
1...keep quiet and say nowt
2...tell them and risk not being insured while it's stored

If you don’t tell them where it is usually kept overnight it won’t be insured anyway. The insurance premium and acceptabilty seems to be post code based and you might find a farm in a rural location cheaper than an urban home address. I am with NFU and they are happy with my farm storage site.

I meant..... Be dishonest !!
Tell them it's at home.

I don’t like being dishonest anyway and making a false claim could be seen as fraud. The insurance company would want a crime number so you would have to lie to the Police as well. At a previous address a neighbour of mine made a claim that the insurance company were suspicious of, an investigator visited the neighbourhood and knocked on doors to check out the story. I couldn’t help because the event was just before I moved in and most people thought it was a genuine claim but not all.

Perhaps being honest is out of fashion and I am a dying breed, I hope not.

Because it would potentially be stored in two places I would give them both and they can decide.

I'm going to have a look round at the weekend see what we can find.

Thanks for the advise.

When we found our storage, I called the insurers, and described the set up I had arranged. They were very supportive, and seemed to think the farm a very secure location. Never had any further issues with either the farm or the insurers!

Thanks for the feed back.

Could I ask what insurance company you used I seem to be getting quotes that are miles apart in terms of cost?
£440 to £900 for basically the same cover!

Welcome to the site , I’m £460 a year , 85k , 8.5m van , parked at home (an old farm) Scotland

We use Safeguard - part of the Swinton group. Comes in at £430 per year at the moment. I would recommend them, though we have never had to claim off them, but they are extremely helpful and understanding.

Thank you I have just had a quote through from them and its about the same so looks like we will go with them.

My insurers were pretty good about whatever security the farm had, but they wanted to know if it was within a certain mileage and that even when it not in use, I would be going up to check on it.

Good luck finding somewhere. A lot of places are fully booked.
