Looks like I'm going to have to join either CMC / CCC.....

Keep hearing how busy sites are.
We just did 5 nights (should have been 7 but got there day late and left day early due to bad weather).
Pitten Cross on the Gower, it was less than half full for the 5 nights we were there. On our drive about's in the hire car we called in three other sites to see what they looked like in case we were to go to that area also. All three had plenty of sites available (we asked at reception).
Just booked a site for 3 nights with EHU in Shropshire in 2 weeks time.
So find it strange people are having difficulty finding places to book.

I don’t know where this, it’s packed solid, can’t get a booking anywhere came from but it’s blatantly not true. One only has to read about the travels of us that have been away over the last month or so to know this.
The stories of places being packed solid are from scurrilous press and people who have read, heard this fake news.
Now I haven’t been South yet but certainly from here North it’s about normal.

Perhaps it’s just at the weekend……? We were at Blackmore C&CC site for four nights last week (Tuesday to Saturday) and there were spaces up to Friday afternoon, and then it was packed!!

(Oh, and about 55% tuggers, 40% mohos, and 5% tents…..)

We’re in Norfolk. We’ve easily booked a week on two different CLs. We feel being members of the C&MHC is well worth it for the CLs and their insurance.

The CL we’re on now is lovely. It’s a farm site with glorious views across the countryside. With only five pitches, it’s really quiet.

Trust me.......... Down South all the laid back... no singing no dancing sites we have tried are booked solid in Devon/Dorset...

Your Haven type screaming kids and rowdy sites might have vacancies if that is what you want.. :frowny:

I have 3 trips booked all on CL/CS sites as well as a caravan and motorhome club site booked for September at £16 a night with EHU. The short trips were all booked within the last week, so it may be worth joining one or both clubs.

Roll on when the kids go back to school  (i know they have not broke up yet but there was enough on the site we were on last week)

We’ve done three Monday to Friday breaks on C&MHC sites in the last couple of months, all three sites were full.

Several we looked at we couldn’t get 4 nights in a row. Just passing on our recent experiences. (y)

Late June, Thursday to Sunday at Dagnall Farm CL was 3 of 5 pitches in use. 2 of the 5 changed daily.
Good location for ZSL Whipsande and hiking (Ridegway LDP, Ivanhoe Beacon, etc.)

Currently at Longbeach, New Forest. There is lots of space, I have never seen it this quiet before. No facilities or electric hookups could be putting the new wave campers off.

Never seen C&MC sites so full up here!

We have been on 3 different CL’s in the past 4 weekends and none have been full.

We are currently about to depart from one near West Wittering, there have only been two of us on it since Thursday.
I guess a lot of the main CMC sites could be busy, but I prefer the CL’s - more relaxed, peaceful and at £14 per night all in, much more cost effective

What area are you looking in? we are in Southampton and because of family commitments book within an hour's travel. I found the odd site full but have never had to make more that 3 calls to find a site. Mrs. Ex still works Monday and Friday mornings so we go for 3 nights Monday to Thursday I have just booked 3 trips within the last week

Just been on a 5 van site near York, only ones there £5 night great pub short walk away, several Red Kites swooping round. Bishop Wilton.

Now on another CL near Bedale one caravan here. Got 2 more booked for next 8 days expect they will be same. Most expensive £ 7 night.

Devon, Cornwall (yes I know, what else can I expect), various just north of the M4 corridor, a couple in Wales. 🤷‍♂️

These were club sites, not CL’s. And for short breaks we try to stay within a 2 hour radius. (y)

No problem getting into CL’s (prefer them anyway)
Weekdays are usually quieter than weekends if your domestic arrangements allow this.
One more short trip to CL planned before going into hiding for remainder of July and August

Am i right or seeing things, when i am trolling the interweb or books looking for sites some say it's one of the C sites yet states
"Non Members Welcome".?

Some, not all, C&MC sites accept non-members at a cost supplement. Most, if not all, their affiliated sites accept non-members but not with the discount members get.

Think i will try one next time i am looking. Not concerned about the few ££s saving, just curious to try.

As an example, we have just left a CL in Suffolk.
Its a privately owned site, as most are (it was actually the owners front lawn - a very large lawn but definitely their front garden)
The site is listed by one of the clubs, meets their standards AND accepts bookings from non-members
Happy searching
