Hi all,
Thought a bit of feedback on our trip so far maybe helpful.Trip up E06 from from Malmo to Moi Rana was was quiet and plenty of free places to overnight expecially the further north one travelled.Coastal Route from MoiRana to Bodo on 17 was well worth it, great scenery and generally quiet with places to overnight.Ferry from Bodo to Lofoten on 9th June was again worth it and approach to island worth it.But the Lofotens are very busy with huge number of motorhomes. We try to stay in quiet places but so does everyone else and although we haven't had problems finding aire type spot or campsites it may not he so easy in a week or two.We are now heading north and hope to find places which are a quieter. The Lofotens are beautiful and unique but my thoughts are that they are nearing the limit for the number of motorhomes/campers which can comfortably be accomodated. If we visit again it would be earlier or latter in the shoulder seasons. Will come back through Sweden but haven't decided on coastal orE45 route yet.

All useful input thanks.

We visited Lofoten Islands a few years ago. Stunning place with unpredictable weather in October. We loved it.
Would be great to visit with the van, also in low season. Thanks for the input.

Follow the coastal road and take your time. That bit of Sweden is beautiful. Midsummer's day and following Saturday is a public holiday. Big village parties everywhere , we were invited to Normjolie's last year.
If you want a chill out couple of day Katherineholme is nice. Don't miss Oland. The potato dumplings (name begins with a K....) are lovely and there's a places that does ice creams to die for.

Oh and on the original subject. The Lofotens are always heaving with motorhomes. If you're a bird watcher. Head for Vardo and take the 15min boat ride (and clothes peg) to Hornoya.

We are on Lofoten now too, we came from the far NE, Vardo and Vadso (which we loved) and find Lofoten both busy and a bit 'meh'. Dare I say 'overhyped'. Yes it has stunning scenery but so did Senja (which was also pretty busy as well, there are no secrets as soon as someone on the internet tells you about their secret place) Lots of rental campervans too. Very much doubt that we'd come back tbh.

I think we "did" Lofoten just at the right time a few years ago. It was beginning to get busy. Places on a blog we were reading, from May the same year, had new "no motorhome" signs in August and I know it's got even busier since then.

As you rightly say, the internet has a lot to answer for. I doubt we'll ever go back there now. And yes, we're as guilty as others in following previous visitors.

Agree , Lofotens are a tick box place and mildly and underwhelming
Underwhelming is a bit unfair. We were there last year. Absolutely spectacular - but you need to put your hiking boots on to get the most out of it.

I agree that the Lofertens busy though. The only place in Norway that seemed overly so.

Senja, further north is equally stunning, and significantly quieter.

Done Lofoten and Senja on separate trips in mid winter and they are stunning, but even in February Lofoten was the busier of the two with photographers (albeit we were there for that too!). This was pre-Motorhome ownership though so am currently planning a trip this August/September in that, but we will probably not head that far north for this trip as we've explored it a lot already so can wait for another day. I can highly recommend the fjords around the Lyngen alps that was a beautiful area in winter too.
