hi all,

Just wondering if this is a common problem, the pic is of my bailey 79-6 locker door which has warped! It’s the one under the drop down bed, it’s not the same material as the other ones.
Can not believe that this change in weather would do this?

Wow that's some warp! I would only expect to see that if it had got soaking wet at sometime! As it's not the same material it may have been replaced with something unsuitable before you got the van.

Did you buy it new? Whatever I'd go back to the dealer first and I'm sure Bailey themselves would be interested.

Bought it brand new last July, it’s slightly lighter weight because it’s a locker fixed to the drop down bed, no sign of damp, mattress is above and dry as a bone.
Will be getting hold of the dealer tomorrow.
Darren

Possibly the fixings for the drop down bed are badly adjusted and have gradually warped the door?

Probably made of a composite of some sort. If it's light weight could be thin ply over a cardboard inner. Not very good whatever it is.

Also noticed it’s only held closed with a magnetic catch I don’t think they are up to the task as it will not hold.
Door looks like it’s made of a piece of plastic cladding board?(n)(n)

Yeh, that is terrible, grab him where it hurts, don't let go 'till he promises a new one, with an early date.
Still waiting for an LED light cover, only taken 2 months so far! I never realised the service levels were so archaic with MH’s and caravans! It’s like going back 30 years.

good plan.. and
show him the split in the magnetic catch
never even saw the split! I was too amazed at the door..........
It’s a composite door as people have said, in its early days it was a delivery box from amazon! Now being recycled.

Update........ door ordered and waiting on delivery however the service manager said..........
That’s quite a warp, take it off and store it flat at room temp for a few days!
Me...... I don’t think it’s fit for purpose if it’s going to do that with a change in temperature.
Him.......perhaps you should leave the heating on low.
Me.........are you going to supply me with an infinite amount of gas! No I didn’t think so.
Really! What a plum!

Thats what happens when you use countersunk possi screws instead of a cheese head screw. The countersunk screw just spreads the plastic and it snaps.

You should try ordering parts for a Laika from Italy .. When they say it will be a week they mean you will have it in your hand in 7 days .. They must keep a good stock of all the parts they use to give that sort of service.

Hi Dazzler

has replacement been done yet and is it any better, I have the same issue and waiting for dealer to come back to me after sending photos to Bailey, I have noticed it warps in winter and straightens back again in summer so obviously not fit for purpose as it is.

Hi Gerby,
Not completed yet, door is on order and been nearly 2 months! It did have the whistling roof light repaired but it is no better. They are replacing the whole roof light now not just the seal.
In my opinion it needs proper catches and not the magnetic type almost something to hold it in shape.
Darren

When I first got mine back in 2017 it didn't even have any catches on it, it was only when I was looking around a display one whilst having some work done I noticed what was missing and got them to fit them there and then.

I had the whistling rooflight issue (it almost deafened us if we went on a motorway) but they fitted the new seals and all has been well since (hope I am not tempting fate there).

generally we love the 79-6 other than some silly annoying niggles like the cupboard door and if we turn the bathroom light on in a poor signal area we lose TV picture until the bathroom light is turned off, but on the plus side due to the bin on the habitation door being too small for rubbish I do have the perfect place to store 2 bottles of spiced rum (safely padded out with a small towel) which helps me forget any little niggles whilst we are away.
