Lock Problem

Hi can anybody identify the lock in question and maybe shed a little light on my problem the lock will compress and lock when out of frame but when in situ it wont lock

Looks similar to my up and over garage door lock do you need to replace it?
If so you could may be use one that fits a garage door

Sorted now from tip off an earlier post regarding locking the lock first then pushing it closed
