Got in van this morning to start making our way to Bristol. Van is in storage on a cmc site, just got out of the site when the engine went into limp mode. Made our way to fiat garage, closed! Went to fiat professional garage, closed- you’d think there’s a holiday looming. Anyway limped back to storage and called break down. Only took 40 mins, well pleased. He puts the doofer thing that tells them what’s wrong, turbo something or other, then opens the bonnet, you've had a visit. They’d chewed the pipe that took coolant to the radiator, reservoir was nearly empty , and chewed a sleeve off a bit sticking out of the turbo doofer! Built a nest of insulation within the engine crevices, and had numerous nibbles on other bits of plastic, but luckily not through the actual wires! That we know of. Once the man cut the pipe from the reservoir and reset it, put some insulating tape around the turbo thingy, all was good and got here without hiccup except the A5 was closed in both directions so had to do a detour!

Quicker fix than mine then, only took eight weeks before they found it was a relay.

I used have a big A Class yank. It had been standing for a while, we were going somewhere, stopped for fuel about 50 miles away. thought I'd check the oil!

Found a nest of another kind. A real fire risk too!

You do know it was illegal to move that nest?...;)

I do love a technical explanation. :xrofl:
Wish I knew all the right technical words, jus knew the bits affected, that’s why we pay to get it seen too! And a couple of sherberts didn’t help the end of a stressful day. Mr break down man saved our Xmas.

Don't tell @buttons but looking at that Blackbirds nest, it looks as if either, or both, Mr and/or Mrs is a SMOKER!!!

Blackbirds don't build nests inside buildings according to a book I've got, except no one told that to the Blackbird in my garden. My garage window was open, and Mrs Blackbird set up home inside in a corner on top of an internal wall. We got quite used to each other - I'd be working in the garage, she'd be up high, sitting there looking at me. 2 eggs appeared - then one day I noticed her flying in and out of the window repeatedly, went into the garage to find a chick on the floor, no way was he/she going to get up to that window, it was high up and at an awkward angle for a young bird. So, I lay in wait for Mum to come out of the window, dashed in, picked up the chick in a plastic box, and put him on the grass outside the window - luckily Mum was quite happy with this and carried on feeding him. The other egg never hatched.

There's been more than one fire caused by a bird bringing a smouldering fag end back to a nest!

Yep, we've had bird's nesting in all sorts of places you would not imagine :)

Vehicle wheel arches are a favourite for blackbirds. One local farmer had a robin nest inside a tractor cab. The robin didn't appear to mind being driven round the farm.

I have seen one or two Birds Nests in my youth (Cough), but they were never quite like the ones in Jims piccie.

So what did you have for your tea them Jim, fried or poached, or was it blackbird pie:xlaugh:

A turbo thingy doofer, now that is technical stuff, so is the insulation tape whatsits. I say one should always keep a tape thingyxroll: insulation whatever on the van, along with that stretchable tape doofer:xsurprised: as well.

As far as nesting:xblush: is concerned, my Xmas present is any day now:xwink::xThumb::xrofl::xrofl:.

If you need any clacker valves for the inlet tubes or fluffle valves for the outlet tubes I have a box of each.
