Lisle sur la sorgue

Any folks stayed here the venice of provence looks interesting!
We have been down in that area, and loved it. Didn’t stay in this town though. Lots of lovely places, Arles, Sault, Gorge du Verdun, Pont du Gard, Mont Ventoux, and many more.
Would go back in a shot.

We’re you watching James Martin French trip cooking this morning, it showed him cooking there, the place that the late Keith Floyd had a shop.
Looks lovely.

Looked interesting and worth a detour. Someone was selling newspapers from a boat which felt a bit twee.

Yes saw it on James Martin . Heading that way late july all being well so will have a nosey.

She'd loads of water mills round the town. Very pretty day visit. No Aire but plenty within striking distance. Think they have a market day so worth trying to time it but beware parking on market day !

Really nice town. MH parking in station car park. Overnighting allowed but no facilities. CCP Aire at Fontaine de Vauclause which is well worth a visit. OH decided we needed 2 new tyres when we were there. Saturday 9.30 am went to tyre company, left an hour later with two new tyres fitted. Takes a fortnight here just to get them delivered.

Stayed at a site just outside of town, sorry i cannot remember what it was called, it was ok, small pitches though.
It was incredibly windy though, the town was very pretty though as is the area.
Definitely worth a visit, all the area is very pleasant.

Camping La Sousta. My favorite campsite of all time. You can swim down to the Pont du Gard, if you can cope with the cold water!

We've stayed there several times, last 3 times at Camping de la Sorguette. It's just about my favourite place in the world:

1) great fly fishing, trout and off the planet grayling (but super difficult)
2) great bike rides, Ventoux isn't too far away
3) Gigondas is around the corner...
4) great antiques shops and market in the town

We even did a day trip to the Camargue once (was a bit far) but wanted the MiL to see it.

Boy is it cold though🥶 the source spring (which you can visit) was explored by Cousteau, pretty deep down from memory and very large.

I went there in a massive heatwave as a teenager (but driving independently). Temperatures later in Rome were over 40C (50C in reality because the mythical "shade" didn't exist). We were absolutely sweltering. We saw the Gard. Walked in to the ankles. Aargh! Too cold!

In the end, I had to promise my friends £100 if any went in and I didn't follow. They couldn't afford not to try for it and I couldn't afford to pay them, so we all went in!

Afterwards, there was a massive party of similar aged people, back on the campsite bank. We brought back several tree's worth of dry wood from the far bank and had an amazing impromptu BBQ/party. Happy days.
