Anyone had experience with their van going into limp home mode? I presume it effects the Fiat powered models… is it a major problem? Cheers!

Usually turn off the engine, wait a couple of minutes and restart - had it happen to us a couple of times on earlier Fiat based van

The modern vehicles are fitted with a myriad of sensors. Sometimes the build of the van onto the vehicle can be disruptive and cause the sensor to trigger, possibly into limp mode.

No limp mode but I had a warning a couple of weeks ago, immediately after a fill up in France, "water detected in fuel filter" - an orange light so can be ignored. It came and went but after two more full ups went away all together.

Thanks for all your help, thoughts and advice. Sounds like it’s not a major issue but does happen. I was told you need to get it sorted by a mechanic if it happens which would be a hassle but hopefully thats not the case

Some faults re the EML will go if the engine is started and driven 6 times others will stay on. Have you been doing a lot of short runs or idling for periods of time.as asked make model year engine size milage would help.

Yes - we've had it a few times with a 2005 VW LT35 van as well...stopped & turned the engine off for a couple of minutes - restart & it has cleared...

I believe Viagra do a tablet to stop this now (so my friend tells me) other tablets are available apparently 😀

Accidently riding the brake can cause it. Make sure you don't let the welt of your shoe catch the brake.

Yes - unfortunately it was when in the outside lane of the M6! Frightened the life out of me but I did manage to make it over to the hard shoulder. I eventually was transported home curtesy of my recovery policy. A dpf sensor was the problem.
