I received a letter today from Virgin, my broadband /mobile deal is going up, I can get Toob broadband but I need a mobile sim only deal and Lebara looks good at £6.75 for 10gb and free calls to and from the EU 10gb would give us TV streaming when away and it runs on the Vodafone network. Too good to be true?

We find it works fine although we are not heavy users. Another worth considering is Gif Gaff although there is no free calls to and from the EU. One of the big advantages is no contract and the ability to adjust your package from month to month.

I do like GiffGaff, easy to use and change your-what they call, your Goodybag and they have some good sim only deals

I run a lebara sim as a second sim in my phone as last year we really struggled with signal with EE in places.

Currently on the 10gb plan, half price for 6 months until June for only £3.47!

Current offer is 15gb @ £3.99 for the first three months - worth trying out

I am leaving the comfort of employment and finally have to fund my own mobile phone

Via Uswitch I got a Lebara 5GB data / unlimited text & calls (UK) / 100min EU roaming deal for £5.95
Vodafone is their UK network.

Too early for any sort of review, but at Lebara you can't get the Uswitch deal.
For heavier usage there is at least one other Uswitch special price (y)

Just be aware that Lebara is no use if you intend to travel to Switzerland. £14.99 a MB !!! Plus £1.49 to make or receive a call.
Switzerland is not in the EU and is now not included in many mobile roaming plans.

I use Lebara and found it good. Martin uses Giff Gaff and that's good as well.

Neither of us are heavy users.

We have two different providers on different networks as we were caught out with no signal at all once when we were both with iD mobile (very poor coverage here).

Will they be introducing the the £2 a day roaming charges when in Europe?

Worth checking which networks these various providers use and the likely coverage you will get for voice and data if it is important to get good coverage at a particular location. For example Lebara uses the Vodafone network, GiffGaff uses 02 and ID Mobile uses 3. To check coverage I have found the Ofcom Checker helpful. https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/mobile-coverage

I've just switched to lebara via Martin Lewis offer. Unltd minutes and texts 5gb Internet for £1.99 for 5 months then £5.90 . Monthly contract. Seems ok i was on 3 before.
Bit of a faff porting my old number over but all went rather smoothly.
If you need access to over 18 content you have to do an age scan via your mobile where they scan your face to verify your age.🤷‍♀️
Before anyone comments over 18 content is not always porn sites 😉

Of course……. On-line Gambling as well.:giggler:

I have just ordered a Lebara sim for me and a GiffGaff one for Mrs. Ex this will give us 27gb of data and 2 different networks for less than we pay now. I have also ordered Toob broadband and will cancel the virgin broadband. Hope it goes well porting both numbers over🤞

I just ported my old number over today and started using a Lebara sim.

I haven't got internet surfing via Mobile Data working yet!! Oddly, using data ON my iPhone is broken but on the iPad tethered to the iPhone CAN surf the www.
So, it must be a phone setting :banghead:

Edit: fixed. See later post 👍

They sent a configuration message via text . I'm on android I'm afraid I'm hopeless when it comes to Apple stuff.
Have you tried turning off and on ?

This might help. Once you click on the link if the language is German you can change it to English bottom right on the screen.

Thanks for the reply.
Nearly every time I’ve altered a setting in Mobile Data setup I turn the phone off and on.

I have an update though. I thought I’d check if voicemail was working. Called 121 & the automated voice said something like press 1 if I want VM as it needs initialising. I did press 1, so that’s happening. But since that call to 121 now mobile data surfing is working.👀😱

Maybe I missed that making a call was needed to launch all Lebara Mobile services 😳🤪

Oh yes I forgot about having to make a call or send a text.
Glad you have it all working now 👍

Warning....Lebara is too good to be true. The EU roaming is blocked after a few weeks light EU use and they then won't unblock it until you Top up even if you have auto renewed. It's a scam plan and simple. Loads of complaints on trip advisor.

I use the Lebara unlimited £25 a month plan.

I also took out a switch on and off contract for France from them with a French SIM. When we cross over I just switch on the French SIM and can switch off the UK one.

Phones are on three and usually the Lebara can get a good signal where the three phones fail, this was especially so in Scotland last week.

We are very, very heavy users with the kids steaming constantly and we only watch TV via streaming. 100GB in a week is usual and it doesn’t slow down etc.

In short, no complaints from me and if there was, there is no contract so happy days.

Surprised you have had such problems. Did you contact Lebara?

We recently returned from a 7 week trip to Holland, Germany, Austria, Italy and returning via France. Our two Libara 1p a month SIMs worked faultlessly for the whole of our trip. One was used in our iPad, the other in a spare handset for hotspotting to our smart TV to stream UK tv. We did use both SIMs for a couple of weeks in the UK before we departed. 👍
