I’ve read through the T&Cs re use of data abroad (France) and can’t find any detail on restrictions or a fair use policy limiting data use. Has anyone experience of using their unlimited tariff in France? Thanks

Website says unlimited plan is limited to 30gb.
Didn’t spot that, thanks. Will avoid as I need around 200gb per month. Used a Free sim in France earlier this year so will probably do that again.

Please tell us more about this free sim.

I note on the thread Carpmart posts “Yes all zone 1 countries, but as with any SIM it needs activating in its home county (Spain) before you roam to France and Germany.”

No that is not correct, I live in France and the SIM's were delivered to France activated by supplier when I requested by email whilst still in France.
Since activation it has been used in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
As I reported in the original thread I did encounter some problem, contacted supplier and they dealt quickly and efficiently with it.

I know they all say such things, but it is a contradiction in terms and if ofcom worked for us it would not be allowed.
Sadly no government regulated works.

Use Lebra ,only 5gb but no extra charges and find ample if you are not downloading unnecessary rubbish for a month.
While 5gb may suit your own personal circumstances you can’t reasonably expect everyone to have identical needs to your own or consider any requirement for higher data use is solely down to ”unnecessary rubbish”

No your not and I would keep that conversation handy(y), I did exactly this with Superdrug mobile as I did not believe them when they told me no roaming limits, in the end it was fine although their policy has now changed.

ID mobile is I think a good example of why we can get confused (or rather the provider hides confusing terms) when trying to find mobile data to use abroad. Their headlines say use your limits whilst roaming very simple:clap:, but when you dig a bit deeper they do refer to a Fair Usage and Open Data policy:cautious:, digging deeper this clarifies what use your data means so the data you can use varies on how much you pay per month:unsure:, so my 10.00 per month which gave me 60Gb actually only allows me 7.7GB abroad :(, see https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/eu-roaming/fair-usage-policy, open data bit is at the bottom of the page.

Couldn’t open the link. We’ve just joined iD too. We’re on an unlimited plan. Not sure how much data that gives us abroad. I find the website a bit daunting. Do you know how much data they will allow me abroad?

The way I read it is that if you are on unlimited plan for 24 months at £16 then you have unlimited data etc subject to their fair use policy as below.
Looks good if it works

Yes sorry about that… I posted this before I had a complete clarification of this service have full ‘out of country SIM activation’ so you can buy with impunity, connect wherever and roam wherever you should wish in Zone1…. HTH to clarify!

I’m busy trawling for a new mobile service. I need Norway, Turkey and France/Spain to have a reasonable amount of fair usage roaming data, 15Gig/month will be fine on the phone… very hard to find the right offer at the moment.

I need Norway and Turkey this year and Spain/France for over four months from Jan 23.

Lebara doesn’t cover Turkey (extortion rates) and every operator seems to be hiding their fair usage policies ever more deeply in the T’s&c’s.

Quite a task TBH… 🤬

They have assured me (twice) that unlimited means exactly same in EU. The cross-border texts that come through automatically only say the “fair usage and open data MAY apply” …watch this space! We are away for just over 2 months so will see how it goes
