Few years now
I noticed a drip of water on one of the mattreses yesterday. I bit of investigation has found that part of the frame at the rear of this skylight and the second one has developed hairline cracks. I suspect these are the source of the leak. I am planing to seal and fill the area with Sikaflex and see how that holds up or is there something else which may do the job better?

Looks to have been over tightened on installation. Cleaning and a liberal layer of sikaflex will get you through the winter, but it will leak again so needs replacing

Would super glue do a better job sealing the crack.

edit or gaffer tape to get you through the winter.

Araldite may be better

I would clean really well, wipe with alcohol and apply sikaflex in, on it should last for winter

You might be lucky and be able to take the rooflights off the roof, clean as above but when put back on using bedding tape to seat, use sikaflex to secure and then seal round with either sikaflex or a uva & uvb sealant

You will only get one go at this but it would last

A lot of people tell you not to use sikaflex to secure your rooflights as you won't be able to get it back off (I have no intention of taking mine back off) but you can use dental floss or cheese wire to cut through the sealant.

Van is coming up to 6 years old, and this is the first we have noticed a leak. It maust have been like it a while. I suspect that it doesnt help that water pools in the lower area of the ribbed roof. Maybe the storms we had the other night may have forced the water in.

I leave mine on levelling ramps so water doesn't sit on the roof

I used Gorilla tape Patch and Seal to re-seal the join where the overhead cab joins the habitation roof and it's worked well, I think it is similar to Everbond tape. It is very sticky and is designed as a permanent repair tape (UV resistant) the tape is plenty wide enough to provide a good seal at 100mm wide and the roll is 3 metres long

You can get it cheaper on Amazon, but I needed it fast!

Thanks all, I will try a thick layer of Sika and see how that goes. If it doesnt work then Ill have to look at a more time consuming and expensive plan B.
