Hi, can I ask some advice please

I’m on day 4 of a planned 16 day trip in France, at an aire by Vannes. I have no spare parts, but do have some tools.

I’ve discovered that the inspection seal under the grey waste tank is leaking, as well as the large 3” (?) diameter pipe which goes into the bottom of the waste tank.

I have a couple of questions
1. Is it ok just unscrew the inspection seal, check it out and refit, to see if it’s works?

2. Is it okay to remove the other pipe brackets see picture) for inspection and then refit?

3. Do you know where this pipe comes from? It connects at the bottom, so I assume isn’t the feed from taps and shower?

Thanks in advance

Update. I found that the large seal is also referred to as a bung.

I’ve tried unscrewing it, but it while it will turn in either direction infinitely, it doesn’t come out.

I wonder if that means it’s not threaded ? But then, how is it staying in.

Any thoughts very welcome

I would expect the smaller pipe to be the drain pipe being in the bottom of the tank.
Can you buy some silicone sealant and make a temporary repair.
I would expect the bung to unscrew out. Its probably got some gunk on the thread where its been exposed inside the tank.
Keep unscrewing but back and forth

Thanks stealaway. I should have said the smaller pipe drops down from above the tank, around the same location that the alde heaters overflow pipe comes out. So it comes from above the tank and goes into the bottom of the tank. Seems weird to me.

Safe to say, there are too many pipes and I don’t know where they all come from or go too 😀

If you get the bung out, a bit of silicone grease on it will make it easier to screw in and out and probably stop the leak too.

The large pipe wouldn't be some sort of tank heater I suppose.

The bung, cover that you are looking at in your photos above, I would suggest isn’t the bung to the tank. It is the a cap/cover that covers the tanks bung. This is because you tank is insulated tank, with an insulted cover/cap/bung cover. If you look closely it appears to be made of polystyrene

I guarantee it will be one of the smaller pipes (inlet from the shower/sink/bathroom sink)leaking at the tank into the polystyrene box then to the bottom towards the bung!
I know this cos I had to sort out the same problem on my old sonic, ended up putting in new pipe inlets👍
Oh and the tank holding brackets that I took off to get the polystyrene case off (it’s in two halves) snapped and I had to get some refabricated at work!
It was a right Pia if I remember but a job well done when finished👍👍
