For those into nature reserves, the wetlands at Le Teich, near Arcachon, is quite something. We could learn a lot from the French. Imagine having a free camper stop outside a major attraction sufficient for about 20 vans with litter bins and a drinking water tap.

It’s 9 euros to go in the park with viewing hides and observation platforms. But to be honest, it’s almost as nice walking or cycling around the footpaths outside the reserve that go past the lakes, reed beds and the estuary itself.

We saw some amazing birds, including a glimpse of a Golden Oriole. Unfortunately it was about 100m away and my camera doesn't quite have the reach for a close up. Here’s a few snaps.

Thanks might just pop in there now when we’re over next time
It’s not unlike Slimbridge, but bigger and wilder, more hides and viewing platforms . . . oh and miles better weather with somewhere to stay for free, right outside the gates. And walks all around the edges for you to be able to see inside for free. So nothing like Slimbridge then. ;)
