I’m in the UK on a C&M Club Site 3pm on Sunday afternoon in the North West of Scotland. The site has 1 - washing machine and 1-tumble drier, I patiently waited on my own in the laundry for 20minutes to ensure I was next in line for the machine. The machine finished and I waited 5minutes before starting to remove the contents of the machine. The owner of the contents arrived as I was stacking them on top of the machine, I explained I had been waiting 5minutes with “no show” but instead of an apology I received a telling off for removing her garments! After having problems inserting the tokens to start my wash I had to go to the warden‘s office to seek assistance. The lady who was annoyed with me removing her garments was in the office complaining to the warden of my actions!! He told me he couldn’t assist immediately but would presently. I returned to the laundry and he did return with a table knife and a screwdriver. Finally he removed the tokens and I was all set for my wash. I asked him if the lady in the office was making a complaint about my actions, he answered, “yes“ and thought it was unreasonable that I started to remove the contents…. Hey am I being unreasonable??? Maybe I’m a grumpy old git😂😂😂. I only wanted to use the machine!! Comments please you Funsters.

She’s lucky you didn’t dump them on the floor. I’m with you and I’d have had them out the second the machine went ping and the doors unlocked.

She’d have also got a few sharp words back if she had started to moan, but some people just can’t help having a grumble.

Was she in an A Class 🙄😋🤭

Seems totally reasonable to me, you can leave the washing in the machine as long as you want to at home but when using a public machine you need to be back for when the load finishes.

No, not unreasonable at all. If they didn't want others to remove the stuff they should've waited or returned sooner.

(I saw a similar altercation at an EV charging station when a vehicle owner eventually returned 15 minutes after the charging was complete).

Did I read it right...if so I think warden was wrong to side with her.... she should have been told, your using machine and your time finishes the second the wash ends and if not back to remove your own washing you can not expect the next user to stand patiently waiting your return and therefore was quite within their rights to remove it for you..

There should be a sign to that effect to stop any further problems

I read at tesla chargers you get a notification in the app to tell you it's charged then you get billed for hogging the charger if you don't move the car , unless all EV chargers start doing that there will be fights

I guess some people at m/way services will be in the middle of a meal or in a supermarket, shopping, or with the the wife in a shop trying on shoes to decide which ones she likes best. :giggler:

Not unreasonable and abroad when we have used machines people leave their bag on the top of the machine so you can bag their stuff when required.

I do wish the owners put the cycle times of the machine on the machine so you know when to return.

At the CCC site i've stayed at several times it has a sign that says clothing will be removed if not collected within 5 minutes, personally I stay by the machines until my washing is done.

Completely reasonable of you
Ex service personnel will be smiling, you darent let machines stop and leave your stuff in there, and dumping it on a chair , machine or floor would mean you get ‘powder’ marks on it so you better be there to get it. Perfectly ok to move it all to a basket or put it all on the biggest item.

Its a campsite with shared facilities, not her house! (but shes maybe not thought that through. )
bet the campsite owner just thought ‘gods teeth’ what next.

Imho, You were hundred per cent right.

You may be a grumpy old git but I think, the action you took is reasonable! Had it have been me and she started to have a go, her clothing would have finished up on the floor! (being big and ugly has it's compensations. :giggle:)

She may have had some skimpy see through underwear in the wash that she didn't want anyone else to see, so was a little annoyed thinking a man was rifling through it.

you'd be surprised what ive found amongst ladies washing on CMC sites when nobody's looking. I never knew about it until Just smiffy told me.

Personally I think you were unreasonable to remove her clothes so quickly. You waited 5 mins, part of which would have been the time taken for the door to release, and she arrived when you were still unloading them. Had the clothes been left in the machine for a long time then it would be appropriate to remove them. Not as soon as the cycle finished.

Some of the C&MC sites do have them. Some also have a plastic laundry basket for "late returners" laundry to be placed in if cycle has finished.
We always put an alarm for 5 minutes before end time on our mobile based on the cycle time shown at start,
Obviously, this is all second-hand information as my involvement in the process is acting as pack horse and pound coin provider!:whistle2:

We leave our wash bag on the washer for people to put our wash load in if we arent back on time. That is the way most people seem to do it.

So she turned up , maybe 6 or 7 minutes after the cycle finished. Hardly the end of the world is it.
I think you were out of order removing her stuff.
Having said that i cant see why she bothered making a complaint about it.

As do some of the CCC sites such as Beadnell Bay where I was a few weeks ago.

If she can be 6 minutes late, she could just as easily been 2 minutes early, and got her own washing out.

Not unreasonable at all. Ok, so the woman turned up after 5 mins but how were you to know how long she would be? You could have been waiting for hours for her to return. If people can’t be bothered to be back at the machine before it finishes, then they have no cause for complaint if their laundry is removed from the machine.

I use Laundrettes 100% of the time being a fulltimer.

Nothing frustrates me more than machine blockers.

People should not leave the laundrette when they have clothes in the machine OR at least they should be back in plenty of time to ensure they do not block the machine. It is basic common courtesy.

I always ensure my ebook and phone is fully charged before going to laundrette.

We’ve got a couple of garage forecourt launderettes near us, both 24hr operation self service even when filling station is closed. Put your phone number in to the keypad and five minutes before cycle ends you get a text message. (FOC)
