Due to many reasons we will be unable to venture abroad this year.

Mid May we intend to visit the Lake District. Looking for recommendations in that area wild and/or Cls camping.

Also depends on your size of van, we have been to places in a 5.59 metre motorhome that you wouldn't get much bigger to.

Two pubs in Threlkeld allow parking, Swinside Inn also allows parking, but ring ahead.

Bowness - Have seen some vans wild camping in car park that leads to the lake, but not free. Also at the end of Glebe road by the graveyard, after hours, mh Park, unsure if there is a charge.

Some britstops in the lakes, but there are pubs where I am sure if you had a drink / meal they would be ok with you in car park, we were.
Kirkstone Inn has a massive car park opposite, and what a view in the morning. We have a 8.3 mtr tag and were ok, just watch any width restrictions, they mean it !!

Joe and Sue are right, the width restrictions are true. The Lake District can be very difficult for MoHo's. Also bear in mind, there is a strong National Trust presence and they do not permit Wild. We go up there sometimes twice a year and we always base on a beautiful site at Glenridding, it is in the foothills to Helvellyn and is very peaceful. EHU also good little laundry room. The owners are very hospitable farming folk.
With regard to width in the Lakes, we are lucky enough to have a trike so we tour on that hence how we know the width warnings are true. Hope this helps

Use a site.
You'll need to book if you're planning to go at a popular time.

Edit:
Why the need to post more than once?

Re width limits!

We stayed at CCC Keswick and toured by bus (300yards from site).

Whilst waiting for passengers to embark at the top of Honister Pass, a "lady" in a BMW decided she would squeeze past.

I was glad that it wasn't the side of my van which "benefited" from some new decorations.

Waterfoot park campsite £19 per night, good facilities and 10 min walk into Pooley Bridge and steamer terminal. We stayed there last year. It’s a great base for walking.

I believe I read that the Lakes is the first uk place to have a Euro type aire around lake Windermere built. I spent a week around there 2 years ago and had no issues wildcamping as long as your sensible.
Pubs as a good starting point as long as you spend some money with them there quite happy for you to stay in the car park.

I would imagine there are quite a few cs and cl sites with both CC and C&CC also sme on faceache.(y)(y)(y)

Off topic, but my mates & I used to spend every Sunday night in the Swinside in the early 70s. I had my 21st there, in the days when they served proper imported Danish lager on draught. My mates, rotten ba**ards, laced mine with vodka that night.

I still have & use the tankard they gave me though, as several will have seen at meets.
