Planning to spend late September/October following La Loire from source to sea. Anyone done this before and if so a couple of recommendations for "must see" or campsites would be helpful. Will be taking the push bikes as well. Thanks for your help

Don't get confused like we did, there is a Loir and a Loire river very close to each other :)

If you are taking bikes then have a look here:-

Cycle route runs most of the length of it. We are planning the same trip for next year. Looks like there are
plenty of aires and campsites along the way.

Dont forget the wine areas start with some nice sauvignon blanc and finish with sparking samur

Nice aires at Sully sur Loire & Briare at briare we drove over the bridge towards the canal & they allow parking canalside nice to watch canal traffic etc, no facilities but they are up back over the bridge on proper aire.

The Aire at Sully sur Loire is lovely and the Chateau(?) is surrounded with water, very impressive! Good path alongside water too.

Sully sur Loire aire is lovely also the Chateau, town is very nice as well, a must on your way around the Loire.
The Loire starts (Ibelieve) way down in the south of France in the Massif region, it's a long old river ends up near St Nazaire. just over 1000 kilometres
