- 40 years under canvas: Motorhome 2016 To 2020
Well at last it dawned as 5 May and we were able to collect our new Autosleeper Kingham from SMC in Newark.
Currently we are sat on the Smeaton Lakes site, where we were given a complimentary nights stay. It’s local to SMC and gives us the chance to try everything out and go back to the dealer in the event of problems.
Handover and collection went fine, we were 10 mins late arriving as SWMBO forgot her coat
so we had to go home pretty much as soon as we set off!
I’ve not driven it yet, SWMBO drove from the dealership to the site (I followed on in the car) and reports all is well and seems to have a nicely torquey engine and feel very manageable on the road. As she spent many years as a rep (35k+ miles a year) I trust her judgment!
We did encounter a small problem after arrival as we couldn’t get the mains electric to work. We had seen them all working at the dealers so couldn’t understand it.
Embarrassingly it was of course user error...mine...as when I looked at the EBL all the trip switches showed red. To me, this means they’ve tripped so I flicked them all so they were green. Common sense says red means it’s broken, green means all is well. After a call to SMC it turns out the RCDs are working when they show in the red position....red meaning “danger” or “live” and green means it’s safe to work on the circuit. That’s something I’ve learned today!
Anyhow, trips away already planned - CCC site at Sandringham next week for starters
Meantime some gratuitous pics of the Kingham known as “The Moocher” thanks to Minxy Girl
