Hi I've got a key code yellow card light come up on the dash which has immobilised the engine . None of the normal dash lights come on apart from the red battery one & the low fuel light on the fuel gauge. Which is strange as the other day when I moved the vhecial there was over half a tank . I've tried disconnecting & reconnecting the battery & also tried it with the red master key . But nothing changes . Can anybody help please as I'm in France & getting nowhere with a poss solution. Many thanks Pete

It could be worth checking that the plugs on the back of the dash pod are all firmly in place , there may also be an earth connection on the rear of the dash that would be worth checking.

Thanks for responding. Any chance you know how to get the immobiliser of ? I have a red key & the code numbers. But no idea what to do with any of them

Have a look inside the fuse/relay box in the engine bay, check fuse 18 (marked as F18 on the fusebox casing or lid) also F16 too, these are the fuses for the immobiliser. R9 relay is also part of the circuit.

The usual problem is the antenna around the ignition barrel not picking up the signal from the chip in the key. Sometimes this can be outside interference from radio signals or a bad connection on the antenna. Just unplugging my antenna and cleaning the contacts cured the same problem I had.

I had an occassional problem with starting and became suspicious that the immobiliser was picking up the wrong code from another car key I often keep in the glove box. I now keep that key in a Faraday pouch to make sure it doesn’t interfere. I haven’t had a problem since then but it is too early to say it has cured what was only an occasional problem.

The immobiliser light can often come on .Try taking out & putting in the key, wobble iot about, along with turning on/off the ignition as it will often pick up the transponder eventually. I used to have a similar problem on an mpv I used to own

Don't use the red key if avoidable - it's the Master key for programming other keys

Does the engine spin but not fire? As you already mentioned the key code symbol it will most likely be immobiliser . I had to completely remove the immobiliser from my 1999 Ducato and have oerfro mdd the same surgery on a couple of others.

This is the senile circuit that needs removing and new 12v feed and switch adding.....

Did this also cause the loss of some of the dash display lights etc ? as in this case , according to the opening post.

Thanks for your help . Yes all the normal dash lights have gone except for the red battery light & a low fuel light is flashing on the fuel gage for some reason

The red light indicates your alternator is not charging.check the fuses and also the earth strap. You could try attaching a temporary earth with a jump lead to see if that stops the red ignition light.
I assume the fan belt is I'm good order

I think all the lights came on and off as normal but the paddock symbol along with oil and battery stayed on.
