After doing a few miles in our 2018 S plus 3.0 Iveco based van we seem to use 10ltrs of adblue for every 1,000 miles it seems quite a lot compared to our transit van that will do over 6,000 miles on 10ltrs

Hi Steve

That does seem a bit high, I think I have put in 30 or 35 litres in 7000 miles, I would add the Transit does seem quite frugal on AdBlue and most likely does twice the MPG of the IVECO ;)

I know the 2.3 likes a drink but a bit better than that figure could it be with towing the car Steve?

Well a pal has a 3.0 VW and that gets around 7,000 to 10ltrs.

not sure Dave I think a call to Iveco may be needed just seems high looks like Martins useage is around half

This is from IVECO Steve,

"The estimated consumption of AdBlue is about 1 litre every 20 litres of diesel fuel"

So we do 17mpg, 1000/17x4.54/20=13.3

That says that they would expect just over 13 litres every 1000 miles @17mpg what are you getting Steve?

We have just done 1,000 miles and topped up with 10ltrs of adblue so within Iveco recommendations.
My next thing to do is get some kind of extension to fill from the pump as the body builders Carthago appear to have made the filler very tight to get a nozzle in to fill, it’s even tight to fill with a 10ltr container.

Have one of these from Amazon, takes a couple of minutes to pump in 10ltrs.
The Morelo has the filler in one of the underfloor lockers so not ideal if you spill any.

Ad blue does seem to be different between the same motors. Trucks at work use different amounts of the stuff for what appears to be no reason

You should be ok Steve
What I like about it is if you put the pipe down in the filler a bit when it stops making a gurgling noise you are nearly full.
Guarantee if I tried filling in a petrol station I would get distracted and overfill😂😂

Ok been to Iveco in Peterbough today and got plugged in nothing came up as out of the ordinary but the guy also thought the Useage was on the high side.
First time I have been to a garage and it cost me nothing🙂
They said monitor the use and if I’m not happy they will open a tech enquiry with Iveco
