Hello friends,

Does there exist a 'rentabrain' type service for motorhomes for going to look at prospective purchases?

The AA used to do this thing where for like 50 quid they would go with you to look over a motor and see if it was road worthy etc, checking all the areas cares are notorious for having problems with.

I imagine on a MH there are another 100 things that could be potential nightmares if not spotted before time?

Rusty pipes or floor /roof panels etc, crap wiring - It's bloody overwhelming!!!!

Does such a service exist guys and gals?

Best,
Alan

When we bought privately we just had a hab inspection and damp test done. You could do that plus have a mechanic look at the vehicle side.

I agreed a deal on mine, but with the agreement that it passed a habitation check organised by me. It failed on two items. No retaining strap on gas locker door, and tyres old. Renegotiated and then bought it.

I was happy myself to check the mechanicals but wanted the Moho bits checking over.

I think AA still do, or did quite recently', vehicle checks but would only check the base vehicle components of a MH.

There is also the collective wisdom on here. Post details of the MH you are interested in and you will find that you will get back lots of helpful info.
Do look at the classified section on here too.

Prety sure it'll be an oledr Hymer 544 or 584 [the 564 seems quite rare]

Thanks for your kindness

RAC did mine before I purchased it. It came included in price. They give you a report sheet.

Thank you!
Do they just cover the mechanical aspects or do they also look at more motorhome specific things like pipes tanks roof etc ( my lack of knowledge is shameful I know)

I think I saw something like this on one of the caravan/mh type clubs, worth taking a look to see if it would meet your requirements?
