5 years, feel free to ask me about the Carado!!
Just sorting out for a trip to France/Belgium/Holland for 5 weeks :giggle:

Here is my OTT/OCD passenger mirror replacement kit, I will be taking with me to Europe and one of the reasons I cant do without a garage.
Reasons why:
1. Partial destruction of passenger mirror (white van man France didnt stop) he tried overtaking me on a to narrow road.
2. Partial destruction of passenger mirror in Norway on a narrow road, BMW driver did not stop, Came tearing around a bend.
3. Broken indicator lens, French white van man badly overtaking again !!!! Did not stop.

This emergency mirror is a composite of the two above :whistle2: plus a spare Ebay indicator lens.
As part of the kit I have a torx key to get the original bolts out (I believe them to be soft shear bolts and it's very difficult to get them out without damaging the torx head) and the replacement bolts I was advised had superseeded the torx bolts by a Peugot dealer.

My hot glueing skills are much better now than when this was built :whistle2:

we manged for 8 weeks round france and Spain with a bathroom mirrer gaffer taped to the, fortunately still useable frame. Have carried it with us evr since.

Has anyone told you your driving in the middle of the road....??
I drive right up to the gutter on the right hand side.....so where else is there to go ? :Eeek: :crying:

Sounds like you need a narrow A Class only have to watch out for HGV mirrors then. ?

Would love an A class, but not one on a caravan chassis (only on a big steel chassis like my FIAT) and under 3.5 T, so any suggestions?

When only the glass broke on mine recently I went to a local glass firm who cut me a piece of thin mirror glass for a tenner while I waited. I fixed it in place with silicone bathroom sealant. Perfect fit and can't tell it has been replaced.
Halfords do a large range of replacement mirror glasses but not in my m/h size/shape.

Al-Ko chassis is a big steel chassis. Some of the smaller Hymer Exsis are just about runnable at 3.5t with over 700kg payload.

OK, will have a look at those next time, having sat in an A class from a FIAT cab I felt like I was sitting in a conservatory........in a good way (y)

We keep a spare ebay mirror for both sides in the van, if all else fails some gaffer tape and a new mirror will work well enough although it might not look pretty.

If the worst comes to the worst I can use one of my blind spot cameras as mirrors as I wired in 2 monitoring screens, one is used for the permanent on rear view camera at the back, the other on the Android media centre can be switched to permanently on also.
