I'll have a van tomorrow
Hi folks, first post here and looks like a great forum!

I'm half way through our van build and need a fridge. The CRX50 is suggested in a variety of places and it looks a decent piece of kit. I'm just a little confused how it differs from the CRE50. Is there anyone that can advise what the difference is?

Here's a couple of links purely for the descriptions:

Many thanks in advance :)

Found this online which sums it up.
This has all the same components as the popular but the outside is made of slightly cheaper materials allowing the overall cost of the fridge to be cheaper.

I think thats comparing it to the older CR50 model not the CRE50. Both CRE50 and CRX50 have a the removal freezer according to the links i posted...

You can see my confusion...

Ahh I see the quote on there about the cheaper materials. Yes it looks like they don’t have the salad crisper and shines blue plastic inside!

For anyone else that stumbles across this post in the future I've also found these links which have helped compare the models:

I've had a Waeco CRX-50 for 4 years - brilliant bit of kit

Fridge/fridge freezer/freezer modes - not too heavy on the electric

is the cre louder?

did you go with the cre? ive heard its loader than the new 2021 crx and not as efficient?

I've just installed a CRE 50 running off 12v battery and its not too loud when the compressor is running, but when the compressor shuts off and the hum/buzz stops, there is a regular (every 30-40 seconds) knocking bump sort of noise which is more annoying than a hum. Has anyone found this and what can cause it? had to switch off at night as kept me awake!
