Thinking more about this, it doesn't matter what you do with it because given time you will have forgotten what you have done and end up buying more string, whilst putting that in the back of the cupboard you will discover the old string. there the paradox begins.

I find it a great way to apply my eyeliner, its never been easier, colour the string and wiggle it on your eyelid

or a handy way to fix a dripping tap by tying it around the tap and letting the water droplets be absorbed by the string
