The roof mounted air con unit cover ( Dometic B2200 ) had gone all funny and covered in moss and lichen and started to look really naff. The rest of my van is a lovely shiny polished white / grey combo and it was really bugging me so I decided to do something about it over the weekend.
So out comes the medium sized stepladders, a quick push of the middle of the retaining pins and it was off. Various polishes ( t cut, cif, etc ) wouldn’t touch it so I resorted to soap filled Brillo pads. 2 of those and a good rinse and it’s all off. (y) Problem now is that it’s not shiny ( hasn’t been for a while ) and is decidedly blotchy where the lichen was. You can’t really notice it from the ground but it’s annoying me! :giggle:

1. I could rub it down and primer and rattle can it white but not at this time of the year being too cold and damp.
2. Take it to a car body shop and get them to do it, matching the white up correctly.
3. Buy a new one at the cost of £230 delivered. ( NOT including the two Dometic stickers ) There’s also a 7-10 day wait for a new one from Germany. And I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to get one due to it now being discontinued. I could then keep the old one as a spare and spray it during warmer weather.
4. Just leave it.

Decisions decisions!

Hi, definitely No: 2, get it professionally resprayed, keep the original one and paint it at your leisure latter on in the year

You missed number 5.
If it's still white inside turn it inside out!
Then do number 4 until it gets warmer then do number 1.(y)

Alternatively, some strategically placed contrasting vinyl wrap.

Use a rattle can but do use plastic primer first. Warm it up with a hair dryer first.

Warm and sunny down south. :giggle:
