Coo, it is, isn't it. I like the good/bad comparisons.

Now is the time for me to run a few comparisons - has it got anything the others haven't, is it missing some, how does its presentation match the aires I know well, is it easier/better to use?

Trouble is that will be four to use every time I research our next night's stop. The gold standard for me would be to be able to know the location of the nearest boulangerie, and bar/resto, so there is still a place for GoogleMaps!

thanks for drawing attention to it.

There are a few websites and apps, all with their good & bad points.

For our personal use we have a database on PC of almost 900 overnight stops of various types and all plotted on a personal Google map so accessible on various platforms.

I find it difficult to follow. Just checked two sites I know around here, both pictures are well out of date.

Yes the site has been going for a good number of years and as you say some of the data is old. Like many other similar offerings it is only as up to date as users make it with their submissions. Maybe now it's more user friendly to English visitors there will be more submissions from UK users.

Likewise, I'm afraid, seems too complicated, I just want to see a stop and directions, nothing else.

I could go round there, take pictures, and post them. Except I'd have to join. Might do.

The long standing i-Camping Car website has been completely re-designed and is much more user friendly to English users. There are still a few glitches but generally it's good. Now translates with Google Translate on a PC.

http://www.i-campingcar.fr/ - front page

or drop into the map area with http://www.i-campingcar.fr/aires/carte.php

It works on PC, MAC, Android and maybe others.

Rod, Thanks.

I have had the campingcar-infos App on our phone for years, so do I need to delete the old version and load the new or does it update automatically?

Geoff
