Hymer
Good afternoon trying to find out why the switch is making a ticking noise when the valve is supposed to be closed ? It was working fine till yesterday. Checked fuses can’t see anything obvious but maybe you have had the same issue . Tia (y)

Not met this problem but I had a Hymer with a similar motorised valve. As a guess I wonder if something has got stuck in the valve opening which has stopped the valve closing properly. There is probably a microswitch which should interrupt the power when the valve is closed, if the valve can’t close fully then the motor might continue trying to force it closed. Alternatively the microswitch or the wiring to it may have become dislodged.

Hi any idea how I get to the valve or micro switch ? Cheers

Hi sorry the file is too big for you to see what’s happening 🙈🙈

Sorry. I don't understand the question.
hi the switch that operates the valve to release the waste water in the garage of our Hymer is making a loud ticking noise from I think is the waste tank . That’s just when you have the switch in the down position when in the up position the noise stops. But the valve is permanently open it won’t close ? Hope this helps. Took video this morning of the noise just tried to upload it but the file is too big. Cheers

Because Hymer winterise their motorhomes properly the valve will be at the tank end of the outlet. Sorry no idea how you get to it, follow the drain pipe back to the tank or perhaps open the inspection cover on the tank and have look in from there. From your latest post it sounds like the valve has just jammed open and the motor is clicking because it can’t move it.

On our Hymer there is a panel you unscrew on the front of the tank housing to access the valve, the waste pipe comes out through it.

We had a similar problem with the dump valve on our Hymer too. I say similar because the electrical valve on our grey waste would not operate. We arrived home after a long weekend away and pressed the switch to open the grey dump valve and nothing happened, so here we are with a tank full of grey waste wondering what to do. Fortunately, I have a very small water pump, such as you'd find in a toilet flush, with a long extension lead so I set about emptying the tank from inside the motorhome. Subsequent to this I researched the offending valve on the internet and find that it has a small knob, which is slightly larger than a shirt button, on the face of the electric part of the valve. This knob operates the valve manually, so by turning it I was able to open the valve. The valve is located in an impossible to reach location unless you have 10 inch fingers, so I decided that replacement was not an option for DIY. I subsequently fitted a manual valve on the end of the grey plastic drain pipe and have left the electric valve open but inoperable. My question now is how many turns of this knob are required to open the valve fully? 1 or 10 or 20 turns, or does the knob keep turning indefinitely when the valve is fully open and likewise to close the valve also?

Hi a bit late but have done the same as you. Seems to be a common issue with the dump valve, so have fitter an external on off tap works a treat. I was advised to leave the valve open in the winter months as any standing water in the pipes would crack them with the frost.
